What the role is:
The GRaduate Industry Traineeship Programme within the Public Service (GRIT@Gov) aims to provide fresh graduates with opportunities to gain industry-relevant skills and experience that can strengthen their employability to take up full time roles in the sector. The Health Economics trainee supports the Chief Health Economist Office in generating analysis of the impact of policies and programmes, using empirical analysis and cost-effectiveness models. In doing so, this work informs prioritisation of policies and programmes by MOH, so as to maximise economic efficiency, health outcomes in achieving the Ministry's objectives.
What you will be working on:

  • Understand and communicate framework for the use of health-economics and cost-effectiveness analysis to prioritise and allocate resources within the Ministry o Develop cost-effectiveness models to estimate the long-run impact of policies and programmes on costs and Quality Adjusted Life Years (QALYs) o Literature review of past cost effectiveness publication and clinical studies o Communicate findings to cluster decision-leaders and Ministry policymakers on results of cost effectiveness analysis

Key Competencies Require o Thinking Clearly & Making Sound Judgements - Strong analytical and critical thinking abilities to support the crafting of sound policy recommendations; ability to grasp timelines, operating context and ground realities. o Learning & Putting Skills into Action - Possesses the drive and curiosity to learn and apply new skills, knowledge and new ways of working. o Improving & Innovating - Ability to seek continual improvements, and to innovate and experiment while managing the risks involved. o Working Effectively with Stakeholders - Ability to mobilise and rally partners and stakeholders towards a collective purpose. o University degree in Social Science with Statistical prerequisites. o Background in Health Economics, Data Science, Statistics is an advantage. o Coursework in programming (e.g. R, Python, STATA). o Excellent communication skills to explain research findings simply and logically to a non-technical audience. o Ability to apply research findings to drive policy change.
