Job Description

Our client; a well-known composite insurer with broad range of insurance products is hiring multiple headcounts for their growing Singapore team.


The ideal candidate will have strong technical knowledge across various

commercial lines insurance

including but not limited to

Property & Casualty, Liability & Financial Lines; Engineering & Construction

, etc with a solid understanding of the Singapore insurance market and regulatory environment.


You will be responsible for evaluating, pricing, and underwriting risks within delegated authority, maintaining profitability, and developing strong broker and client relationships.

Key Responsibilities

Underwriting & Risk Assessment

Evaluate, select, and price new and renewal business in line with underwriting guidelines and risk appetite. Prepare underwriting reports and ensure documentation is complete and compliant with internal and MAS (Monetary Authority of Singapore) requirements.

Portfolio & Business Development

Manage and grow a profitable book of commercial lines business. Work closely with brokers, agents, and clients to identify business opportunities and develop tailored insurance solutions. Monitor portfolio performance, loss ratios, and trends to ensure sustainable growth.

Collaboration & Compliance

Collaborate with internal teams including claims, reinsurance, actuarial, product development to optimize risk selection and pricing strategies. Ensure adherence to underwriting authority, compliance, and internal control standards. Support development and enhancement of underwriting guidelines, wordings, and product features.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Insurance, Engineering, or related field. Minimum 5 years' experience in underwriting Commercial Lines within the Singapore or regional insurance market. Strong knowledge of local market practices, regulatory environment, and broker landscape. Proven ability to balance technical underwriting with commercial judgment. Excellent analytical, negotiation, and communication skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team environment. Preferred Attributes BCP, PGI and CGI is a must. Exposure to regional (ASEAN) commercial lines business will be an advantage.
