All staff are expected to be involved with the leading and developing of co-curricular options, either in their subject or an area of interest. The Role and requirements:

The successful candidate will bring SEND specialist knowledge and a flair for bringing out the very best in children, so that they are well equipped to succeed and achieve their potential. Our hardworking teachers demonstrate a willingness to go above and beyond and the ability to work collaboratively as part of a team. The role reports to the Head of Junior School through the Head of Learning Support (Junior School).

  • Planning and delivering one hour of Maths daily using a range of concrete resources to support. Working with individuals/groups of students with a range of SEND needs as stated in the SEND Code of Practice 2015.
  • Devising pre-and post-intervention assessments. Analysing relevant data to support this process.
  • Using a range of assessments to gather relevant data on students and to identify students who may require additional support.
  • Triangulating data, using class teacher assessments, standardised assessments and observations of individual students to build a picture of their strengths and areas of needs. Disseminating relevant information to the Learning Support Team, Class Teachers, Teaching and Learning Assistants, Senior Teaching and Learning Assistants (STLA) and parents. Reporting to parents in accordance. Liaising with internal support systems and outside agencies.
  • Keeping detailed records of individual student programmes and achievements.
  • Writing and regularly reviewing Personalised Learning Plans for students at support 3 on the Learning Support Register.
  • Liaising with relevant class teachers with regards to the SEND needs in their class and ensuring these needs are understood, planned for, and met.
  • Working in close partnership with parents to ensure that the needs of their child are fully understood and met.
  • Supporting colleagues in developing their professional practice within class/unit through providing advice, strategies, modelling, and CPD.
  • Supporting the Head of Learning Support in the Review and Development and Performance Management processes with STLAs in accordance with the agreed school procedures. Be responsible for reporting any concerns about a child to the DSL Embracing the School\'s commitment to creating a diverse and inclusive environment.

Requirements:
  • Qualified teacher with a B.Ed, degree + PGCE or equivalent, with QTS
  • Minimum of 2 years teaching experience
  • Outstanding practitioners from either a state or independent school background
  • Knowledge of the English National Curriculum is preferred but not essential
  • A dedication to co-curricular activities
  • An interest in developing your own learning through academic research and reading
