Financial Crime Compliance aligns current activities within Global Risk and helps to build these into a more integrated framework to conduct Customer Due Diligence which enables HSBC to manage financial crime risk more effectively. It builds stronger controls to improve the way Financial Crime Compliance risks are managed in order to spot gaps as well as trends so that the team can take action. It proactively gathers and analyses financial intelligence in a smart way so that suspicious transactions, activities or connections can be identified and we can adequately protect our customers from the threat of financial crime. We are currently seeking a high calibre professional to join our team as a Vice President, FC Fraud Risk and Analytics. Principal Responsibilities

  • The VP of Fraud Risk & Analytics role is an important role to support the Head of Fraud Risk & Analytics, on executing the Compliance Analytics agenda for the Singapore LoB’s, Products and Functions
  • The role has broad responsibilities for supporting the Compliance function on key data driven projects, thematic reviews, proactive investigations and streamlining Compliance initiatives within the bank
  • The role will also focus on upskilling analytics capabilities across the Compliance function. The incumbent will also continue to support on the Financial Crime Non-Financial Risk Framework, oversight, advice and challenge to Business Lines and functions on the performance of financial crime controls – including the design and operating effectiveness of the control framework
  • The role requires strong partnership with the various LOB business and leadership teams, and as part of the Singapore Country Strategic Advisory Plans (CSP) and the HSBC Group pivot to Asia strategy where Singapore is a Scale and priority market, there are ambitious growth plans due for execution in Singapore and SEA, with Singapore being a key site for the SEA strategy. The CSP plan introduce various FCC risks (i.e. FCC risks, Fraud risks etc.) that require the Compliance teams to be able to advise and risk steward these initiatives. Good communication skills & stakeholder management skills are also attributes we look for
  • Working and practical knowledge of the financial crime framework is essential. Given the rising industry focus on consumer fraud risk in Singapore and the conduits to move such proceeds, controls continue to evolve and need to be implemented at pace to protect consumer and enhance the control environment. Data analytics capabilities set the infrastructure to equip staff with tools to deter such risks through thematic and proactive reviews. The incumbent will need to be highly skilled in analytics systems including coding, the use of AI and python capabilities to build dashboards and tools to identify and detect high risk indicators to Compliance Risks
  • The incumbent will equally be required to act as the subject matter expert in this field, while upskilling colleagues with analytics capabilities to support Compliance projects and initiatives
  • The role will also need to stay at the forefront of HSBC Policy changes impacting the Businesses and Functions to provide support for proactive communication with business and develop appropriate policy and framework to manage the changes. Risk stewardship and involvement in the Group NFRO transformation are also part of the role

  • The role is to assist the Head of Fraud Risk & Analytics in Singapore to support LoB’s, Functions and Products in Singapore
  • Role requires 7+ years of Financial Crime &/or advanced analytics related experience and a subject matter expert skill set in analytical system capabilities
  • Advanced knowledge in analytics capabilities such as analytical systems, tooling and coding. Proficiency in SQL, and python are preferred
  • Possess strong communication skills both verbal and written and an ability to train and up skill others in Analytics
  • Have good working knowledge of the Financial Crime policies
  • Have excellent interpersonal and negotiation skills
  • Able to work under pressure and tight deadlines
  • Able to work both as a team player as well as independently
