The candidate will support the International Tax team in respect of the responsibilities outlined below and will be located in our Singapore office.

This role will encompass International Corporate Tax compliance, reporting and advisory work, including management and oversight of the work performed by the APAC Tax Analyst. Corporate tax support with Projects will also be a key component of the role.

The candidate will have experience of international corporate tax issues, be a self-starter and a clear communicator with all levels of management. The candidate will need to demonstrate the ability to work independently and pro-actively with Wells Fargo business lines, legal entities, and functional support groups.

  • This role will encompass support and assistance in relation to International Corporate Tax compliance, reporting and advisory work. Corporate tax support with Projects will also be a key component of the role.
  • The candidate will ideally have experience of international corporate tax issues, be a self-starter and a clear communicator with all levels of management.
  • The candidate will need to demonstrate the ability to work independently and pro-actively with Wells Fargo business lines, legal entities, and functional support groups.
Key responsibilities will include:
  • Being the primary point of contact on corporate tax matters within the APAC region and ensuring knowledge sharing across the APAC and wider International tax teams.
  • Liaising closely with colleagues in the International tax team to ensure that group initiatives are implemented within the region.
  • As the senior APAC tax team member in region, co-ordinating regional activities of the APAC tax team (dotted line reporting).
  • Review and present (when required) tax update slide packs at board and management committee meetings.
  • Management and maintenance of, and adherence to, the tax governance and controls framework for the APAC region.
  • Manage the outsourcing of the compliance process for APAC entities to ensure that all tax filing and payment obligations are completed accurately and within the statutory deadlines. This includes liaising with colleagues in other areas (eg Finance, HR) to ensure information is provided on a timely basis, escalating as required, and supervising local agents in APAC to perform these services.
  • Ensuring accurate and timely reported tax disclosures in financial statements and management accounts.
  • Reviewing and advising tax accruals, tax payments and group relief if applicable.
  • Liaising closely with Transfer Pricing colleagues, and local teams such as Finance, Indirect Taxes, Legal, Treasury, Compliance and Risk as required.
  • Responding to and resolve APAC tax authorities\' enquiries in a timely manner.
  • Implementing process efficiencies to facilitate and enhance tax compliance.
  • Advising the business on ad hoc queries, including advice to the business on new products and initiatives.
  • Reviewing changes to tax legislation and consider impact for Wells Fargo\'s APAC entities, including drafting tax memoranda.
  • Reviewing and providing corporate tax technical analysis and input to key projects and restructuring initiatives.
  • Acting as a technical expert on direct tax matters for key stakeholders, co-ordinating as required with other team members to provide comprehensive advice to the business and the broader tax team.
  • Provide training and regular updates to Key stakeholders.
Required Qualifications:
  • 5+ years of Corporate Tax experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education
Required Qualifications:

Qualifications /Experience required
  • Post-qualification experience preferably within banking or financial services.
  • Corporate Tax experience either in practice and/or in-house.
Technical Knowledge
  • Strong understanding of APAC issues for a multinational company.
  • Strong understanding of tax accounting and corporate tax reporting.
  • Good in-depth knowledge of international tax issues such as permanent establishments, residence, transfer pricing and tax treaties.
  • Understanding of the processes for corporate tax reporting and compliance.
Business Skills
  • Deal regularly and effectively with business areas and other support areas.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely on international tax matters with senior management and other non-tax personnel.
  • Strong interpersonal and team working skills with the ability to build solid working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing with strong interpersonal skills.
