Position Purpose

Reporting to the Head of Trade Syndications APAC, this position will primarily be responsible for the distribution of all trade financing originated by BNP Paribas, with a particular focus on LCs/documentary credits (e.g. FI risk) to other banks and institutional investors on funded/unfunded basis.

Direct Responsibilities
  • Support the origination and lead the distribution of all trade financing in APAC with a primary responsibility and focus on corporate risk transaction, in particular Supply Chain Management APAC ("SCM"), to banks and institutional investors on funded/unfunded/syndicated basis.
  • Main liaison between internal stakeholders (e.g. regional SCM product specialists) and external investors. Bridging expectations of BNPP with that of client and investors by providing market input in terms of structure and pricing to achieve successful syndication. Involves in various stages of syndication, i.e. from origination/deal structuring, developing syndication strategy/bank list, book-running and documentation.
  • Maintain close interaction with internal clients (regional Commodities Finance, Global Trade Services, Supply Chain Management, FIG and Coverage), to understand their requirements, market our capabilities (e.g. regular market updates and pipeline meetings), and support their bids by advising and executing a syndication solution.
  • Prepare LMFS/TS syndication memo and represent LMFS/TS in all relevant credit committees.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with other relevant internal departments (e.g. Risk IM, Credit Risk, Operations, etc) to ensure smooth execution of all syndication mandates.
  • Develop and maintain our investor base in Asia/EMEA including multilateral agencies such as ADB and IFC, as well as working closely with LMFS (regional & global) to tap on their knowledge and investor base to enhance market penetration.
  • Gather secondary market intelligence - market capacity, pricing trend, new product / transaction structures, competitors' development, etc.
  • Negotiate and execute legal documentation, primarily Master Risk Participation Agreement ("MRPA") with new bank investors, with the support of regional Legal or external legal counsel, to facilitate deal completion.
  • Ensure smooth execution and transaction settlement including performing KYC checks on potential investors.
  • Perform all required regular internal/external reporting, and maintain transaction records including but not limited to Debt Domain, call reports and deal spreadsheets.
  • Help train and supervise junior sales persons of TS APAC.
  • To lead/support any regional or global special projects involving TS APAC.
  • Contribute to the Permanent Control framework
Qualifications

Technical and Behavioral Competencies required
  • Understanding of trade financing, and good knowledge of trade finance products and risk (LCs, guarantees, supply chain transactions, etc) is essential.
  • Highly numerate, with the ability and experience to understand trade and structured financing transactions.
  • Good knowledge and experience in distributing trade and loan assets with a strong regional banks and institutional investor network.
  • Business acumen, commercial instinct and an ability to identify opportunities. Enjoys working in a fast pace environment.
  • Ability to influence at different levels within and outside of the organization.
  • Articulate, self-motivated and naturally innovative person.
  • Ability to express, understand and discuss complex concepts with fluency, in spoken and written English & Chinese. Proficiency in Cantonese would be a plus.
  • University degree with a minimum 5-7 years of working experience in trade finance and corporate banking.
