Regulatory Compliance ensures adherence to applicable regulations and standards by setting the policies which cover HSBC\xe2\x80\x99s regulatory requirements, and mitigate conduct and reputational risk issues. The team strives to remain ahead of the regulatory change agenda and ensures the business understands the implications and is prepared for change. It monitors how the Global Businesses and Functions manage their responsibilities with regard to complying with the regulations and helps resolve compliance deficiencies.

We are currently seeking a high calibre professional to join our team as a Vice President, Regulatory Compliance Advisory, INSP.

Principal Responsibilities

  • Provide compliance advisory to the insurance business through proactive and practical advice, with focus on regulatory compliance matters, covering local regulatory requirements, expectations as well as HSBC Group policies and framework
  • Exercise risk stewardship challenge relating to Compliance risk taxonomies, such as in governance forums and through effective issue management, foster a strong compliance culture with business risk and control owners
  • Promptly communicate new regulations or changes in regulations that have impact on insurance business, including keeping abreast of key local regulatory change and oversight on business\xe2\x80\x99 development of appropriate policy and framework to manage to the changes
  • Actively participate and engage with risk and control owners in managing the new product and services development, to ensure that potential compliance issues are properly addressed at the early stage
  • Identify regulatory compliance issues timely, with a view to resolve them promptly to ensure compliance risks are addressed and mitigated. Report and escalate material issues to relevant stakeholders and management from time to time
  • Maintain strong relations with regulators and industry bodies, including oversight on regulatory inspections and responding to any regulatory compliance queries from regulators
  • Prepare and furnish governance reports related to regulatory compliance matters and think critically to challenge any business inputs to these reports, to local, regional and head offices as required
  • Develop strong communication and working relationship within other stakeholders to ensure implementation of regulations, new policies and standards
  • Maintain and observe all HSBC control standards and implement and observe the Group Compliance Policy, including the timely implementation of recommendations made by internal/external auditors and external regulators pertaining to regulatory compliance function
Requirements
  • Degree holder (business, accounting or law) with prior experience of about 8-10 years with insurance industry preferred, or seasoned Compliance professional in the financial services industry. Candidates with audit background with understanding of regulatory compliance can also be considered
  • Compelling communication and inter-personal skills, with experience of dealing with stakeholders at all levels including the capacity to articulate the case for risk management and policy in the language of business.
  • Ability to develop practical solutions to complex issues and work independently yet seek direction collaboratively were needed
  • Some experience of dealing with regulatory matters and confident interaction with Regulators
  • Experience of interpreting a large volume of information and / or data and provide succinct summary for management
  • Experience of working within a matrixed environment preferred including reporting internationally
  • Ability to execute excellence at work, inspire team motivation/ commitment and contributing to joining up with the other teams in Risk and Business within Singapore
