What the role is:The ISEAS - Yusof Ishak Institute is a leading research centre dedicated to the study of socio-political, security and economic trends and developments in Southeast Asia and its wider geostrategic and economic development. Applications are invited for:Visiting Fellow, Philippine Studies (Economy and Sustainable Development) (4 months)The fellowship seeks to understand the economic issues faced by the Philippines as one of the regions\' fastest growing economies and an emerging middle-income country. It focuses on the government\'s policies to encourage more foreign investments but at the same time ensure equitable development across socioeconomic classes and geographical regions. The fellowship could deal with most of the present and future major economic challenges of the country related but not limited to trade, investment, infrastructure, energy security, and climate change. The research should be data-driven and empirically based and targets the policy community and wider public in the Philippines and the rest of Southeast Asia.What you will be working on:Responsibilities:The Visiting Fellow will conduct research, writing, and outreach related to ISEAS publications (e.g., ISEAS Perspective, Trends, academic journals, and books) as well as short opinion pieces (ISEAS Fulcrum), public seminars, and other channels to promote their ideas in policy debates. The Visiting Fellow will also interact with the media, provide briefings, and contribute to the Institute\'s collective research efforts. The Visiting Fellow will be based in the Philippines (preferably in Manila) in order to facilitate working with the PSP Coordinator but will be able to visit ISEAS during the fellowship.What we are looking for:Requirements:Applicants should have a Ph.D. degree in an area of economics, public policy, Philippine studies, Southeast Asian Studies, development studies.
