Business Function

Group Finance aims to deliver world-class standards in reporting, financial planning and finance processes. We provide insights and analyses that help the bank make sound business decisions - whether in the areas of product development or customer profitability. We also provide capital management, business planning, forecasting, and tax and accounting advisory services.

The bank is also a certified Accredited Training Organisation (ATO) for the Singapore Qualification Programme by the Singapore Accountancy Commission and an Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) Approved Employer.

Job Objective

As Group Finance continues to enhance capabilities in Finance COO, there is a need for a strong and motivated AVP / VP to support design and delivery of strategic initiatives which are part of the Analytics and New Capabilities book of work.

The Analytics and New Capabilities team works on a range of initiatives for Finance, using Artificial Intelligence and Machine learning techniques in addition to our Analytics and Big Data integration practices. The team explores various Units\' challenges, synthesizes requirements and designs solutions making use of existing and emerging tech tool sets and presents them to various stakeholders. The team also delivers value through Proofs of Concepts and initial implementations jointly with our technology partners.

The focus of this role is on (1) conceptualizing and implementing solutions to Finance problems via data analytics techniques (2) building up an understanding of the bank\'s systems and data repositories (3) engaging internal and external stakeholders to align on solution approaches (4) developing our capacity to be a source of analytics expertise within Group Finance

Responsibilities

  • Analyze data requirements to ensure that data being sourced and transformed is viable and accurate. Own and manage the data model design and mapping processes.
  • Demonstrate working knowledge of product processors and transaction processing systems for banking products, transaction lifecycle and the financial impact.
  • Subject matter expert of Finance data, views and processing logic used for advanced analytics and data science models.
  • Develop data science models (including but not limited to machine learning models) for a broad array of use cases in Group Finance, e.g. financial analysis and planning, risk and product control, finance resource optimization and workflow automation
  • Use data science models to conduct in-depth analysis & generate projections of key metrics and variables tracked in Group Finance for steering balance sheet & bank resources
  • Strong data science & analytics partner to Finance controllers, business analysts, application / full-stack developers and data engineers
  • Own modelling outcomes & contribute pro-actively to productionizing advanced analytics models
Requirements
  • University degree in Business Management / Accounting / Economics / Finance
  • Financial engineering or data analytics degree with relevant coursework in risk is an advantage
  • Work experience in quantitative modelling, consulting companies, or enterprise credit-risk modelling software an advantage
  • Comfortable with large datasets
  • Proven analytic skills, including mining, evaluation, analysis, and visualization
  • Technical writing experience in relevant areas, including queries, reports, and presentations
  • 5-10 years\' experience in developing advanced analytics models (including but not limited to machine learning models) for financial services use cases
  • Experience in productionizing data science models in an institutional setting an advantage
  • Background in systems design and enterprise software architecture an advantage
  • Ability to influence at a senior level without direct authority
  • Ability to problem-solve issues and negotiate outcomes between stakeholders
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience in Corporate Finance, Capital Markets, Corporate Strategy or Planning, Balance Sheet Management / Analysis
Data Science
  • Strong knowledge of regression, classification, and clustering techniques to analyze data and generate simulations / projections
  • Strong knowledge of statistics and time series econometrics concepts (e.g. Type I, Type II errors, bias-variance trade-offs, auto-correlation etc)
  • Knowledge of machine learning methods such as reinforcement learning an advantage
  • Knowledge of large language models an advantage
Problem solving and Data analytics
  • Ability to perform functional analysis of business requirements and propose solutions
  • Responsible for the functional definition of data derivation logics and its associated testing and live verification in production
  • Solid Excel, data analysis, and SQL skills.
  • Demonstrate first-principles thinking when engaging senior leaders on ambiguous problems
  • Execute a hypothesis driven approach to problem solving; reasons through underlying issues; anticipates likely points of controversy and escalates as appropriate
  • Ensure high quality, detailed and accurate analysis
