Investment Services Private Markets

The Investment Services Private Markets Department (ISPVM) is responsible for investment services for the private market across the GIC group. It is responsible for providing deal structuring and closing, portfolio monitoring, valuation, finance, operations, tax, data management and analytics services, in the execution of private market investments across Private Equity, Private Credit, Real Estate and Infrastructure. It is also involved in financial reporting and accounting of investment holding companies, as well as operations and financial due diligence for asset operations.

We are looking for a suitable candidate to join the Finance & Accounting ("F&A") team, in a Financial Controller role. The role will support Asia Private Markets (predominantly Real Estate) as a Vice President.

This role covers primarily the finance, accounting and valuations aspects of deal support and on-going monitoring of the investment structure and valuations across the Asia private market business units and is expected to work closely with various internal and external stakeholders. The role is also expected to support the Team Lead in various finance transformation initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Work closely with Investment Teams, Transaction Managers, Tax, Legal and external advisors to provide finance expertise on deal closing and investment lifecycle, and coordinate financial due diligence during acquisition/divestment process
  • Provide financial and operational inputs on; holding structures, funding mechanics, assess other accounting / valuations implications and manage various work streams with internal stakeholders and external advisors during investment / divestment processes
  • Oversee the corporate secretarial functions and preparation of financial statements for investment holding companies
  • Review financial controls for asset operations and liaising with external auditors
  • Review monthly market value updates, prepare variance and returns analysis, work with the internal Valuations team and deal team where internal valuations are utilised
  • Partner with the operations team to fulfil all operational requirements
  • Work closely with the Team Lead to design and implement various finance improvement initiatives and analytics as part of Finance Transformation
  • Coach junior team members
Requirements
  • Bachelor\'s Degree in Finance, Accountancy or equivalent
  • At least 10 years of relevant working experience (ideally within either Real Estate), with at least 3 years in a public accounting firm doing Audit or Transaction Advisory
  • Good understanding of deal closing mechanics
  • A strong team player with excellent interpersonal, communication and analytical skills, who is keen to learn and pick up new challenges in a dynamic and fast paced environment
  • Driven self-starter, with strong initiative, who is hands-on and comfortable to manage multiple tasks, is confident to engage different stakeholders, and can work independently to deliver outcomes
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications and have practical working experience with accounting software systems
