Job Description


Business Function Group Technology and Operations (T&O) enables and empowers the bank with an efficient, nimble and resilient infrastructure through a strategic focus on productivity, quality & control, technology, people capability and innovation. In Group T&O, we manage the majority of the Bank's operational processes and inspire to delight our business partners through our multiple banking delivery channels. Responsibilities

  • Manage high severity incidents and high customer impact incidents focusing on fast recovery.
  • Champion production resilience and availability, focusing on superior client experience, by working with the operation team and technology development teams.
  • Drive the implementation of Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) and Chaos Engineering design for all strategic systems.
  • Drive effective communication between business and technology with regards to production service reliability and performance.
  • Drive continuous improvements in processes or systems leveraging Site Reliability Engineering methods.
  • Apply SRE core tenets of measurement (SLI/SLO/SLA), eliminate toil, and reliability modelling.
  • Respond to, evaluate and analyse production incidents to minimize their impact as well as devise innovative solutions to prevent them in the future.
  • Improve the reliability and availability of systems by gathering hard data, designing systems for increased service reliability and performance.
  • Provide expert advice and training to our engineers as to which technology solutions and advanced reliability techniques to use on each situation.
  • Strong experience on building microservices with spring boot.
  • Excellent programming skills in Java, J2EE, Spring, Hibernate, Servlets, JSP, jQuery, HTML, Ajax, JavaScript developing client-server, n-tier, Web and Distributed Applications.
  • Experience working in version control tools like GIT and SVN; build tools like Maven; continuous integration tools like Jenkins, and issue-tracking platform like JIRA.
  • Identify and implement automation opportunities to drive down the operational toil and reduce the technical debt associated with the services that a team is accountable for.
  • Accelerate and standardise the adoption of SRE across the Group's services, infrastructure, systems and processes by developing and supporting frameworks and tooling which teams can leverage via our inner source community.
  • Engage with operational teams across the Group to triage priority incidents, participate in blameless post-mortems, and ensure permanent closure of incidents, including actioning of root causes and contributing factors.
  • Monitoring system performance using enterprise tools such as AppDynamics, Grafana etc.
  • Provide go/no go preplanning, verification/validation, and review of existing and new product/services.
  • Proactively analyze data and test the integrity of systems to ensure production applications and services are operating optimally.
  • Build end-to-end documentation and instrumentation of platform to ensure visibility, automation, self-healing and resiliency throughout the stack.
  • Liaise with Dev, QA and DevOps teams for release management.
  • Closely work with Business, Regional and country IT teams and Vendors.
  • Drive a daily huddle call to track the open issues and present the weekly updates in Governance forum with Business, Contact centre team and several other Stake holders.
  • Closely track and review the App ratings, review the user comments in App Store, Playstore and in-App review. Analyze the issues customers are facing and work on fixes and performance improvement.
  • Review the App performance on a daily basis using Crash Analytics and take necessary actions.
Requirements
  • Experience with Banking at least 5 years will be an added advantage.
  • At least 5 years of working experience in J2EE Servers like Jboss, Tomcat and Apache.
  • At least 5 years designing dynamic web applications using HTML, CSS, JavaScript, AJAX, JSON, and React JS.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science and at least 10 or more years of relevant experience.
  • Experience in driving major production incidents and organised incident Retrospective Meetings.
  • Experience with high availability, high-scale, and performance systems.
  • Be a passionate advocate for SRE principles and practices at both a Chapter and BU level, by talking at meetups, sharing learnings, presenting to larger audiences and forums, or publishing technical blog posts.
  • Establish metrics for data-driven decisions to help increase availability, reliability, and velocity.
  • Possess In-depth understanding of application security and SSL certificates.
  • Strong background in dealing with application development teams and principal vendors.
  • Ability to work under pressure with demanding objectives/timelines.
  • Experience working in Agile-based SDLC environment and participating in different Scrum sessions.
  • Self-disciplined and motivated - Ability to work independently without much supervision.
  • A pro-active ‘can-do’ attitude.
  • Ability to manage a team of up to 15 highly skilled mobile Application and Micro services resources.
  • Demonstrate leadership in handling different teams as backup support lead for critical applications on need basis.
