Portfolio Execution Group
Portfolio Execution Group comprises teams involved in a broad range of functional roles including trade execution, treasury management, securities financing, beta replication and asset rebalancing, and applied quantitative research.

Applied Research Unit
You will be part of the centre of excellence for quantitative research, specifically in the areas of market microstructure analysis and investment implementation solutions. Our in-house state of the art research and data analytics platform plays an integral role in driving GIC\'s investment teams in their investment decisions.

What will you do?
We are seeking a suitable candidate to support the Applied Research Unit\'s growth with a focus on providing proactive data-driven consulting and advisory services to our internal partners around implementation and execution. The role is based in Singapore.

  • Collaborate with current team members, working together to create innovative solutions and frameworks to deliver impactful data-focused market intelligence with a liquidity and microstructure perspective. The successful candidate will be able to link concepts and ideas across asset classes
  • Leverage our best-in-class, in-house analytics platform and proprietary data to produce insights and narratives around market structure trends and events which are relevant to GIC. Work together with the team to envision and plan the next generation of tools needed to meet GIC\'s long term needs
  • Build a thorough understanding of our internal partners\' approaches to investing. Proactively identify areas where we can contribute to their strategies and vision, either through existing or new solutions
  • Craft compelling arguments backed by robust analysis to promote the team\'s ideas to colleagues across the organisation, both verbally and in writing. The ideal candidate will use their intuition to tailor messaging to different audiences and situations
  • Leverage experience in quantitative research to enhance our transaction cost and market impact modelling, liquidity forecasting and optimal execution solutions for a diverse group of internal teams across asset classes and trade horizons. Recognise opportunities to apply these solutions across the business
  • Become a trusted voice in team discussions and show a willingness to share your ideas and experience while respectfully considering the views of others
  • Work closely with the team head and business partners to realize the team\'s long term strategic objectives, provide mentorship and guidance to junior colleagues and contribute to the team\'s overall research output
What qualifications or skills should you possess in this role?
  • 8 to 10 years\' experience in an analyst, strategist, or researcher role
  • Good intuition around data and visualization
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience in manipulating and applying statistical techniques to large datasets, preferably including intraday data
  • Ability to code independently in languages such as R, Python, SQL, kdb/Q
  • A track record of producing written material for internal and external audiences
  • A strong interest in financial markets and current events
  • Familiarity with execution algorithms, algo wheels and systematic counterparty selection is preferred but not essential
