Job/Group Overview:
The storage environment at Nomura is managed by a 3rd party through a combination of onsite staff and offsite storage operation teams along with Nomura Storage Managers in each region who have oversight of the day to day operational processes, or project based deliveries in their region carried out by the 3rd party vendor.
The storage managers are also responsible for the Tape Bbackup in their region through co-ordination with the centeral Backup operation team who create, monitor and manage the daily backups and restores globally.
The Asia Storage Manager has close ties with the central Backup/Restore Operation team and acts as the manager / mentor for that team..

Responsibilities:
Key Responsibilities includes,

• Represent and manage Storage infrastructure services for Asia region, including Japan, Singapore, HK and other branch/remote offices across Asia within IT Infrastructure department, directly for Tape backup infrastructure or partnering with the 3rd party vendor to oversee the operational activities for SAN/NAS and CAS ensuring correct scheduling and standard change management processes are adhered.
• Work with the 3rd party vendor to troubleshoot issues and to co-ordinate troubleshooting with other Nomura IT teams.
• Represent Storage in regional meetings such as Change Advisory Boards and other management forums.
• Work with 3rd party vendor\'s account team and Nomura Storage managers in other regions to review new firmware for storage devices and agree suitable timescales for upgrades.
• Track and drive changes in the storage environment to ensure work is carried out to agreed schedules,
• Work with the central storage operation team to ensure all systems are backed up and backup issues are tracked and resolved.
• Produce KPI reports covering backups and restores for all regions.
• Manage global changes to the backup environment and oversee the communications to users for those changes.
• Manage the region specifics standard process and procedure to manage storage, tape backup as a service.

Requirements
- 10 years of working experience as engineer to operate tape backup Infrastructure for Enterprise scale, Tape libraries with Tape encryptions capability(IBM/Spectralogic) and Veritas Netbackup as backup software and managing storage or backup infrastructure globally with teams in the form of 24x7 or Follow-the-Sun, with the emphasis more on storage management and operations than architect.
- Ability to create and maintain the standard procedure and process documents to drive the standardization and adherence of the firm\'s policy.
- Practical knowledge and understanding of ITILv3 or later, Change Management, Incident Management and Problem Management processes.
- Good understanding of storage technologies overall, SAN/Block storage, Filers(NFS/CIFS) and CAS, Fabrics.
- Scripting language, ideally in Python or PowerShell for automation.
- Good verbal and written English communication skills, and a sound team players willing to collaborate with other colleagues go beyond the boundaries to deliver together.
- Demonstrate proactive Leadership to engage others as necessary and provide good mentorship to junior staffs to foster the teams.
