Job Description

The Japan Research Institute (JRI) Limited is a subsidiary of Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation (SMBC) Group. JRI provides comprehensive, highly value-added information services through the coordinated application of its 3 functions. i.e. information systems, consulting and think-tank. As a system integrator, JRI offers services in IT strategy planning, implementation and outsourcing to a broad range of industries and activities. JRI Singapore currently supports the overall IT functions of Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation (SMBC) in Asia Pacific Region.
Responsibilities
Test Strategy & Planning

  • Working closely with Test Manager to define the overall test strategy, approach, and scope for the project (covering functional, system integration, UAT, performance, and security testing).
  • Develop and maintain a comprehensive Test Plan, including entry/exit criteria, risk assessment, resource planning, and timelines.
  • Identify and implement test automation strategy for regression and critical workflows.
Test Execution & Management
  • Lead manage, and mentor the QA test team (onshore / offshore / internal / external), ensuring clarity of roles and responsibilities.
  • Coordinate test case design, execution, and defect management across internet and mobile platforms.
  • Oversee integration testing with core banking, payment systems, APIs, third-party services, and regulatory platforms.
  • Ensure adequate test data management, including anonymization of production data where required.
Stakeholder Management
  • Collaborate with Project Managers, Business Analysts, Development, Infrastructure, Security, and Vendors to align testing activities with delivery timelines.
  • Provide regular test progress reports, risk updates, and quality metrics to senior management and steering committees.
  • Act as the main point of contact for testing with business stakeholders during UAT.
Quality & Risk Assurance
  • Ensure testing aligns with banking security, compliance, and regulatory requirements.
  • Drive defect triage meetings and root cause analysis for critical issues.
  • Establish best practices, test standards, and reusable frameworks for long-term QA capability.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
  • 7+ years of experience in QA/test management, with at least 3 years in a Test Lead role.
  • Proven track record in large-scale internet and mobile banking or financial services projects.
  • Strong knowledge of functional, integration, regression, performance, and security testing.
  • Hands-on experience with test management tools (e.g., JIRA, Xray etc).
  • Familiarity with test automation frameworks (e.g., Selenium, Appium etc).
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
  • ISTQB Certified Test Manager or equivalent is highly preferred.
  • Experience with Agile/DevOps delivery models and CI/CD pipelines is preferred.
  • Exposure to API testing (e.g., Postman) and performance testing (e.g., JMeter) is preferred.
  • Knowledge of corporate banking products (cash management, payments, trade finance, FX) is preferred.
