In addition (s) he will stay abreast of current product issues and address / make recommendations and provide medical expertise on a wide range of topics. It will be important to provide a credible and deeply scientific external voice for GSK and to ensure rapid and thorough responses to product issues and, more importantly, to anticipate and mitigate problems before they occur. It is also important to have the broad perspective across the portfolio and to share learnings and best practices as appropriate to deliver medicines of value to the patient. It will be essential for the incumbent to be able to ensure talent and leadership in LOC medical teams and deep understanding of the customer, competitive environment, and the marketplace. To provide medical functional leadership for the GCI LOCs and to ensure all the countries in the Area have the required level of medical capabilities and leadership to carry out the core tasks and critical functions required to support a successful local business. The person will assure the alignment and partnership with VEO, Regional commercial and Regulatory. This person will sit on the Regional Medical Affairs leadership team and represent vaccines medical in relevant Regional Commercial Leadership teams. Key Responsibilities To provide cross-functional Medical leadership of the Vaccines Regional team and provide necessary matrix support to LOC Vaccines medical teams within the Region. Active Contributor within the GCI Markets Medical Affairs Leadership team and key partner with Commercial Responsible for communicating the value of vaccines both to scientific communities and decision makers in the region in balanced and credible way to ensure informed decision making that enables the best possible care for vaccine recipients ('patient care') Drives the development and execution of globally and commercially aligned LOC medical plans. (Including external engagement activities and local evidence generation activities) Coordinates the generation of medical insights across assigned LOCs and integrates/ prioritizes these to inform global medical affairs and clinical development. Accountable for providing medical oversight of all GSK sponsored study activities (incl. local evidence generation activities) in regions and countries. Ensure appropriate level of medical support to vaccines clinical operation in countries. Stay ahead of current vaccines issues and address/make recommendations and provide medical expertise on a wide range of topics. It will be important to provide a credible and deeply scientific external voice for GSK and to ensure rapid and thorough responses to product issues, and more importantly, to anticipate and mitigate problems before they occur. Accelerates capability building to set up high performing medical teams throughout GCI. Drive strategic resource management to ensure appropriate capacity and capabilities are available in Area LOCs (in collaboration with the GMs), to enable new vaccines' introduction. Enables a performance driven culture with clear metrics and business improvement embedded into the organization and be accountable for metrics to measure Medical Affairs activities to demonstrate the value and achievements. Engage with regional supra-national organisations (WHO, PAHO, UNICEF ) to ensure optimal understanding of the value proposition of our vaccines Qualifications Medical Degree Post Graduate qualification in management, or pharmaceutical medicine More than 10 years + hands on medical affairs experience in the pharmaceutical industry (including a significant amount of time with vaccines). Expertise in Vaccinology, Infectious diseases and Epidemiology Demonstrated ability to assess evidence generation needs review and develop Phase IV protocols and review ISSs for scientific merit. Track record of building strong internal and external networks. Proven ability to build and lead high performing teams. Demonstrated ability to manage complexity and cultural diversity.
