Business Function

Group Finance aims to deliver world-class standards in reporting, financial planning and finance processes. We provide insights and analyses that help the bank make sound business decisions - whether in the areas of product development or customer profitability. We also provide capital management, business planning, forecasting, and tax and accounting advisory services.

The bank is also a certified Accredited Training Organisation (ATO) for the Singapore Qualification Programme by the Singapore Accountancy Commission and an Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) Approved Employer.

The Corporate Treasury (CT) is a corporate centre function covering asset-liability management, capital management and wholesale funding. This involves formulating, implementing, monitoring and revising strategies to achieve the Group\'s financial objectives within its risk tolerance and other constraints.

Within CT, the Structuring & Wholesale Funding teams support the CFO and Corporate Treasurer in the development and execution of initiatives and strategies to manage DBS\'s long-term funding as a strategic resource from both consolidated and entity perspectives.

This role provides an opportunity to work on planning / structuring and execution of funding / capital transactions and transactions which achieve an optimum corporate structure (from various perspectives, for e.g. capital, accounting, tax), and involves detailed analysis and preparation of materials to support regulatory engagement, Board decision-making, senior management committees and business-specific working groups.

Responsibilities

  • Lead GMTN and Covered Bond programme updates.
  • Research and analyse legal, accounting, regulatory and tax implications of structuring strategies for the Group\'s global corporate structure in order to better align accounting / tax / capital with the organisation\'s strategies, initiatives and regulatory environment.
  • Assist in project management / co-ordination and execution of transactions (capital/wholesale funding):
  • Support documentation and internal approval process for new initiatives.
  • Analyse risks / consequences of transactions (from a legal / tax / capital / accounting / booking model) and ensure all necessary operational requirements are clearly considered, executed and documented.
  • Collaborate with various teams / functions within the Bank in ensuring end-to-end process of project is covered.
  • Where required, engage with external counterparties and advisors to successfully execute transactions.
  • Assist in any ad-hoc projects required of the Corporate Structuring and Wholesale Funding teams.
Requirements
  • University degree in Legal, Business, Accounting, Economics or Finance. Open to other disciplines (e.g. Engineering) if have relevant experience in banking industry.
  • Work experience in the following areas would be advantageous:
  • Debt capital markets related legal expertise.
  • Transactions and corporate structuring advisory - planning and implementation.
  • Accounting structuring - deep knowledge of IFRS 9 and hedge accounting.
  • Product structuring - knowledge of banking products and structures (for e.g. structured finance; pricing / structuring of hedges) gained in a front office / bank treasury role.
  • Strategy formulation and financial modelling (e.g. performing financial analyses to assess consequences of specific transactions).
  • Consulting and planning (for e.g. analyzing proposed transactions for risks from an accounting/tax/ capital perspective).
  • Due diligence.
  • Technical and problem-solving mindset:
  • Strong technical knowledge and willingness to expand this continuously: Legal/ corporate structuring skills.

  • Solid understanding of DCM-related execution and legal frameworks /IFRS / tax would be advantageous.
  • Structuring experience (with law firm / bank / accounting firm / boutique advisory) for corporate groups with multiple entities, including entity setup and capitalisation and analysis of intra-group transactions.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Powerpoint, Excel, Word).

  • Group CEO/CFO Peers.
  • Other Corporate Treasury teams: Balance Sheet Management team, Structural Portfolio Management team, Location Corporate Treasury teams.
  • Other Finance teams: Capital Reporting team and Central Finance and Business Unit Finance teams.
  • External: Investment banks covering DBS as a client, Legal counsel, and Regulators.
