Job Description

Core job duties


Surface preparation:

Cleaning, leveling, and waterproofing walls to ensure proper adhesion for the tiles. This can include removing old tiles or grout.

Measurement and layout:

Measuring and marking surfaces according to blueprints, determining the best layout for a desired pattern, and ensuring consistent alignment.

Tile cutting and shaping:

Cutting tiles to fit around obstacles, into corners, or for specific shapes using hand or power tools.

Adhesive and grout application:

Mixing and spreading adhesives like mortar or cement, and applying grout to the joints between tiles.

Installation:

Laying the tiles onto the prepared surface, pressing or tapping them into position, and ensuring they are level and properly spaced.

Finishing:

Wiping away excess grout with a damp sponge and installing any necessary trim or edging.

Quality control:

Inspecting the finished work to ensure it meets quality and aesthetic standards.
Other responsibilities


Material and cost estimation:

Calculating the quantity of tiles, adhesive, and other materials needed for a project and estimating costs.

Tool and equipment maintenance:

Keeping tools and equipment clean and in good working order.

Collaboration:

Working with clients and other construction professionals on a project. *

Safety:

Adhering to safety regulations on job sites.
