The role also involves
leading and managing a team of inbound staff
, driving productivity and accuracy, and continuously improving inbound SOPs to optimize dock-to-stock time, inventory accuracy, and operational efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
1) Daily Inbound Receiving & Processing
Manage daily inbound operations for e-commerce inventory including
carton/pallet/piece receiving, SKU verification, counting, and discrepancy handling
.
Coordinate inbound flow to ensure fast turnaround from
dock-to-stock
and minimal backlog.
Ensure inbound is completed according to cut-offs to support
replenishment and fulfilment requirements
.
Manage inbound staging areas to prevent congestion and ensure safe, organized flow.
2) System Receiving & Inventory Accuracy
Ensure accurate receiving transactions in a WMS including:
Inbound creation / inbound confirmation
SKU and quantity validation
Batch/expiry/serial capture (if applicable)
Discrepancy documentation (short/excess/wrong SKU)
Validate inbound against PO/ASN/DO documents and coordinate resolution with inventory control, supplier, or procurement teams.
Ensure barcodes and labels are correct and meet internal/customer requirements (SKU labels, carton IDs, pallet IDs).
3) Putaway Readiness & Slotting Support
Ensure inbound inventory is
properly sorted, labelled, and staged
for putaway or replenishment.
Work with inventory/warehouse planning teams to support:
fast-moving SKU replenishment
location assignment and slotting logic
FIFO / FEFO rules where required
Prioritize putaway staging based on order demand (high-selling SKU urgency).
4) Team Management & Workforce Deployment
Lead and supervise inbound staff, ensuring daily deployment meets inbound volume and time requirements.
Conduct daily briefings and allocate roles such as:
unloading / scanning
counting / verification
labelling / sorting
QC / exception handling
Coach staff on productivity standards, SOP adherence, and quality checks.
Monitor attendance, performance, and discipline with support from the manager.
5) Inbound SOP Development & Continuous Improvement
Establish and maintain inbound SOPs aligned to e-commerce needs such as:
fast receiving processes
carton-to-SKU breakdown
scanning compliance
inbound exception handling (damaged/missing/wrong items)
Drive improvements to reduce:
receiving errors (wrong SKU / wrong quantity)
inbound cycle time delays
inventory inaccuracies
Participate in operational improvement projects (layout improvements, staging redesign, process standardization, 5S).
6) Quality, Safety & Compliance
Ensure inbound goods are checked for:
damages
packaging integrity
expiry date / best-before (if applicable)
correct barcodes and labeling
Enforce safety practices and housekeeping standards (5S) in inbound zones.
Ensure compliance with customer requirements and internal controls.
7) Reporting & Cross-Team Coordination
Track and report inbound performance such as:
inbound volume (cartons/SKUs)
dock-to-stock time
inbound accuracy (discrepancy %)
damage rates
backlog levels
Liaise with outbound, inventory control, transport, and customer service to ensure inbound flow supports fulfilment priorities.
Escalate risks promptly (late trucks, labour shortage, WMS downtime, repeated supplier issues).

Required Skills & Competencies
Strong understanding of
e-commerce inbound operations
, SKU-level counting, and system receiving.
Experience managing a team in a fast-paced fulfilment environment.
Good knowledge of WMS scanning workflows and inventory processes.
Strong attention to detail and problem-solving ability.
Ability to work under tight fulfilment deadlines and peak seasons (campaign periods).
Good coordination and communication skills.
Qualifications & Experience
1-3 years
of inbound warehouse/fulfilment experience (e-commerce preferred).
Experience in supervising warehouse staff is an advantage.
Familiarity with handheld scanning, WMS (e.g., Manhattan, Infor, SAP, Netsuite, or similar).
Forklift / reach truck license is a plus.
Working Conditions
Warehouse-based role; may require long hours during peak e-commerce campaigns (e.g., 9.9 / 10.10 / 11.11 / 12.12).
Requires standing, lifting, and working in a fast-paced inbound environment.
