Job Description

A Waterproofing Worker is responsible for protecting buildings and structures from water damage by applying waterproofing materials, membranes, and sealants to roofs, walls, basements, and wet areas. The worker ensures all waterproofing works are performed to meet quality, durability, and safety standards.





Key Responsibilities:





Prepare and clean work surfaces by removing dust, oil, and loose materials.





Repair cracks, holes, and joints before applying waterproof coatings.





Apply waterproofing systems such as bituminous membranes, polyurethane (PU), cementitious coatings, torch-on membranes, and liquid sealants.





Ensure proper surface priming and curing of materials.





Perform waterproofing on roofs, balconies, bathrooms, basements, tanks, and concrete structures.





Conduct leak detection tests and ensure complete sealing.





Mix and apply chemical coatings according to manufacturer's specifications.





Operate spray machines, rollers, and other waterproofing tools safely.





Coordinate with site engineers and supervisors for project sequencing.





Maintain housekeeping and ensure all work areas are hazard-free.





Report defects, leaks, or incomplete areas to the supervisor.





Ensure compliance with Workplace Safety and Health (WSH) regulations.





Requirements:





Minimum Education: Primary or Secondary education.





Preferred Certification:





BCA CoreTrade - Waterproofing Application or Certificate of Trade Test (CTT)





Apply Workplace Safety and Health (WSH) in Construction Sites (CSOC)





Work-at-Height and Confined Space Certificate (advantage)





Experience: At least 2-3 years in waterproofing, painting, or finishing works.





Knowledge: Understanding of various waterproofing materials, surface preparation, and application techniques.





Skills:





Surface preparation and sealing techniques





Application of bituminous, PU, and cementitious waterproofing systems





Knowledge of waterproofing for concrete, metal, and tiled surfaces





Understanding of expansion joints, drainage systems, and leak prevention





Safe handling and mixing of waterproofing chemicals





Problem-solving and troubleshooting of water leakage issues





Quality control and inspection skills





Teamwork and coordination with other trades (tiling, plastering, roofing)





Time management and task prioritization





Physical strength and endurance for manual work





Communication and safety reporting skills
