Worship Director, Full Time

Overview

Create an atmosphere of celebration and reverence to God through music for all worship services. Lead and direct the Worship Arts Ministry to include choir(s), vocal, instrumental and other ensembles/expressions of worship experience. Foster an innovative, inter-generational style of music to enhance and support the worship message goals.


Principal Function: The Worship Director is responsible for planning, conducting, and evaluating weekly worship for IBC services (in close coordination with the Senior Pastor).

Responsibilities

1. Provide engaging, inspiring and motivational worship experiences for IBC's services and programs/events.


2. Coordinate with the Senior Pastor and Worship Arts Ministry team to create and lead well-planned and engaging weekly worship services. This includes recruiting and developing a worship team, vocalists and instrumentalist. Responsibilities include preparation for and leading rehearsals.


3. Collaborate with Pastor(s), Worship Associate, and other WA Ministry leaders to select all worship music.


4. Help bridge generational/cultural differences by selecting a balance of musical styles for every service which will, as a whole, have inter-generational and multicultural appeal.


5. Develop opportunities for Youth and Young Adult involvement in the worship services.


6. Collaborate with Worship Arts Ministry team to develop and administer an annual budget for the worship ministry in accordance with the financial policies of the church.

Requirements and Qualifications

1. Committed disciple of Jesus Christ, seeking to know, love and serve God & neighbour, and also committed to continual spiritual growth.


2. Music background with the appropriate educational qualifications and proficiency in leading worship with a strong vocal ability.


3. Minimum of 3-5 years' experience leading and planning congregational worship with the ability to lead, inspire and engage the congregation during the worship experience.


4. Have a passion and vision for including contemporary praise music along with upbeat traditional Christian music in worship ministry in order to contribute to worship vitality in a multicultural and multigenerational community. Capable of leading with a guitar and/or keyboard.


5. Ability to direct and conduct choir and orchestra is an added plus.


6. Must be able to coach and guide all the members of the worship arts ministry to continually enhance their musical skills.


7. Strong leadership, organizational and communication skills required to effectively collaborate with both the church staff and administrators as well as the other members of the worship arts ministry.


8. Knowledge of Baptist theology is desired, but not required.

Salary

Commensurate with experience and duties performed.
