What the role is:

The Rehabilitation and Protection Group (RPG) provides services for the rehabilitation of adult and youth offenders and the protection of children and families. We are passionate and committed to making a difference in the lives of these children, youths and families and are looking for like-minded individuals who share the same passion as us to join our dynamic and life-changing team. As part of the RPG family, the Youth Residential Service (YRS) is responsible for the rehabilitation, protection and reintegration of youths placed in secure care at the Singapore Girls\' Homes (SGH).

What you will be working on:

As a Youth Guidance Officer, you will take at-risk youths from challenging backgrounds through structured daily routines, coach and develop them to acquire personal mastery in the areas of positive values, attitude and habit formation. You will need to plan, implement and review structures, routines and programmes in youth guidance. You will ensure the holistic well-being of female youths, and establish and maintain security and safety for the youths. You will manage youth discipline through a balanced, robust and caring approach. Being part of the ministry, you will collaborate with other professionals to achieve the rehabilitative outcomes for youths. You will also contribute to the professional growth and development of the Homes, Division and Ministry. You will serve as a positive role-model in speech, attitude and behaviour. You will work in a fast-paced and highly volatile environment that would require the ability to manage multiple priorities and stakeholders at the same time. \xe2\x80\xa2 You must be willing to work in shifts. \xe2\x80\xa2 As this role requires close supervision and to provide care of female at-risk youths, we are only able to accept female candidates.

What we are looking for:

Functional/Technical Competencies \xe2\x80\xa2 Tertiary qualification \xe2\x80\xa2 Experience working in an institution, or with groups of at-risk youths and/ or challenging youths \xe2\x80\xa2 Youth-savvy, with strong interest and commitment in working and caring for challenging youths \xe2\x80\xa2 Efficient with organisational skills and able to leverage on technology \xe2\x80\xa2 Able to conduct risk assessment and maintain situational awareness when on duty, and respond appropriately and promptly in challenging situations. Generic Competencies \xe2\x80\xa2 Able to command presence and respect \xe2\x80\xa2 Able to maintain consistent stand and respond to residents firmly and calmly and is not easily intimidated, \xe2\x80\xa2 Good physical stamina: Able to run distances to reach scenes of emergencies and climb multiple stairs daily when performing duties \xe2\x80\xa2 Analytical mindset with problem solving and decision-making skills \xe2\x80\xa2 Resilient and able to handle stress with high emotional stability \xe2\x80\xa2 Able to communicates effectively with good listening skills \xe2\x80\xa2 Adaptable and alert, and understands when to escalate complex issues
