Role Summary
As the CMM Programmer (ZEISS), you will be responsible for programming, operating and maintaining the coordinate measuring machines to perform dimensional inspection of parts, ensuring accuracy, repeatability and compliance with drawings and specifications. Your work will support first article inspection (FAI), in-process checks and final release inspections.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and maintain CMM programs using the ZEISS Calypso (or equivalent) software for ZEISS CMM machines.
Set up the CMM (fix fixturing, choose probes, define measurement routines) and execute measurement cycles.
Interpret engineering drawings and GD&T symbols accurately; translate into measurement strategies.
Perform first-article inspections, in-process and final dimensional inspections; generate reports of findings.
Analyse measurement data, identify trends / deviations, propose corrections or improvements.
Collaborate with production, engineering and quality teams to resolve quality issues and ensure tooling, fixtures and processes are measurement-friendly.
Maintain and calibrate metrology equipment, ensure measurement environment is compliant.
Support audits and quality system requirements (ISO 9001 / IATF 16949 / AS9100 as relevant).
Requirements
Diploma or Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Precision Engineering or related field.
Minimum 3-5 years of hands-on experience in programming and operating ZEISS CMM machines (or equivalent) in a manufacturing environment.
Proficiency with ZEISS Calypso software (or similar) for CMM programming.
Strong grasp of GD&T, mechanical drawings, tolerance stacks and dimensional inspection techniques.
Good problem-solving skills, attention to detail and ability to work in a team environment.
Good communication and report writing skills.
Advantageous
Experience in aerospace / medical / precision manufacturing industries.
Familiarity with SPC, MSA, 8D, root-cause analysis.
Experience in first-article inspection (FAI) and dimensional process development.
