Bloomberg runs on data, and data drives the market. Our Data team acquires and supplies this data to our clients. Teams work collaboratively to collect, analyze, process and publish the data which is the backbone of our iconic Bloomberg Terminal - the data ultimately feeding and moving the financial markets.

The Role:
As a Data Analyst you will manage the financial data that feeds into the Bloomberg products. You will use your data management & problem solving skills to maintain the workflow of extracting, transforming and loading of timely, accurate and comprehensive data across various Bloomberg platforms. You will identify innovative workflow efficiencies, implement technical solutions to enhance our systems, products and processes, and establish links with key players in the financial market.

Our Data Analysts possess a unique combination of business & financial market aptitude, strong communication skills and ability to build relationships with various stakeholders, as well as interest in technology (or data management related tools). You will play a key role in empowering our clients to make well-informed business decisions. Providing exceptional support assisting our clients with their data queries is a key part of the role.

We\'ll trust you to:

  • Manage the extraction, transformation and loading of timely, accurate and comprehensive data across various Bloomberg platforms
  • Design and manage workflow configurations for critical functions such as acquisition, worklist management, and quality control
  • Implement business rules for programmatic data validation by codifying market conventions and/or data relationships
  • Monitor financial market developments to build subject matter expertise and data analytical capabilities that generate premium content, including data-driven news stories
  • Provide timely and in-depth customer support for users of the Bloomberg Terminal and our associated Enterprise Products
  • Lead ad hoc projects to optimize processes and/or improve the quality of the data set
  • Use statistics and data visualization skills to report on results of on-going operations and projects, as required
  • Contribute to continuous improvement by generating ideas to improve our data products and/or associated processes and building prototypes to validate and illustrate requirements
  • Partner with a wide variety of stakeholders from Engineering to Sales on product development
This is an entry level role where you\'ll need:
  • To be a current penultimate year tertiary student (with expected graduation between Nov 2023-Sep 2024), who will be available for a 10-week summer internship from May to July 2023 and will be available to start their full-time employment with us in 2024
  • Doing an undergraduate (or above) degree in combined studies in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business Analytics, or a related degree.
  • Not more than 2 years of work experience
  • A demonstrated interest in financial markets, concepts, and products along with the aspiration to work in the financial/fintech services industry (example: course of degree or work/internship experience or extracurricular activities)
  • A demonstrated capability in Data Management, Data Cleaning & Processing, or Data Analysis
  • Stakeholder management exposure through school or work/internship?
  • Demonstrated project management skills and ability to prioritize tasks accordingly
  • Eagerness to learn and collaborate with teams across regions and products?
  • Solid attention to detail and experience in problem solving through school/work/internship?
  • Ability to think creatively and provide solutions which improves process efficiency?
  • Resilience to learn and adapt quickly in a dynamic fast-paced environment
  • Ability to communicate effectively and articulate thought process clearly
  • Business proficiency and fluency in English
We\'d love to see:
  • Proficiency in Python, SQL or R, demonstrated through school projects or work experience
  • Experience in customer service or client relationship management within the financial industry
  • Previous work experience with the Bloomberg Terminal, or Bloomberg Market Concepts (BMC) certification
Shortlisted candidates are expected to complete our 2023 Summer Internship program (10 weeks between May to July 2023) which is an integral part of the assessment process for our 2024 Full-Time Graduate Program.

During the summer internship program, you will:
  • Gain hands-on exposure to our systems, processes, clients and the financial markets
  • Discover how we maintain the standards of accuracy and timeliness which our data is famous for
  • Apply project management and data analysis skills to find insights that assist in the implementation of strategic solutions to improve the client experience
  • Carry out real projects that have an exponential impact on our systems and clients
  • Learn how we assist our clients with data-related inquiries via our Help Desk (ADSK)
  • Receive in-depth training in the areas of terminal navigation, computer scripting languages and professional development skills all from world-class professionals
  • Be mentored by one of our experienced Analysts throughout the 10-week internship
  • Obtain feedback on how to continue to develop your skills and expertise
