Job Description


The Credit Analysis Specialist is a strategic professional who stays abreast of developments within her/his own field and contributes to directional strategy by considering their application in own job and the business. Recognized technical authority for an area within the business. Requires basic commercial awareness. There are typically multiple people within the business that provide the same level of subject matter expertise. Developed communication and diplomacy skills are required in order to guide, influence and convince others, in particular colleagues in other areas and occasional external customers. Significant impact on the area through complex deliverables. Provides advice and counsel related to the technology or operations of the business. Work impacts an entire area, which eventually affects the overall performance and effectiveness of the sub-function/job family.

Responsibilities:

  • In partnership with the Capital Market and Lending Transactors, assist with the structuring and execution of more complex or tailored transactions, meeting Risk Acceptance Criteria; with a focus on complex Capital Markets transactions or credit facilities.
  • Full credit underwriting with appropriate risk return characteristics of Citi Private Bank’s standard product range, ensuring appropriate compliance with Credit Policy and Risk Acceptance standards
  • Preparation of Credit Applications ensuring accuracy and completeness of data
  • Financial Analysis including cash flow statements
  • Collateral Evaluation covering Marketable Securities, Property and other asset classes
  • Transaction analyses and identification of the risks and mitigants to these transactions in line with the financial analysis and collateral evaluation.
  • Preparing and negotiating credit documentation for facilities, including liaison with external counsel as required as well as undertaking the annual review of documentation
  • Preparing and reviewing facility covenants
  • Assisting in regular portfolio monitoring, including CA Annual reviews, covenant monitoring and compliance, waivers and extensions and all related system maintenance; as well as early warning for credit performance of the facilities
  • Problem Recognition and assisting with classified loans remedial management
  • Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency.
Qualifications:
  • 8-10 years of relevant banking experience; with at least 2-4 years covering capital market transactions.
  • Strong and proven analytical, financial structuring and execution skills
  • Experience as a credit officer
  • Strong knowledge of Citibank’s Credit Policies, Product Programs and Citi Policies
  • An in depth knowledge and understanding of Financial Analysis including Financial and cash flow modelling
  • Excellent communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills
  • Good negotiation skills
  • Strong initiative and interactive approach to problem solving
  • Displays flexibility and independence in a demanding environment
  • Team Player
Education:
  • Bachelor's/University degree, Master's degree preferred
