Job Description


The Accessible Document and Web Configuration Specialist is responsible for editing and remediating documents to meet PDF-UA standards as well as setting up and configuring new websites for clients. This includes content population and module setup and configuration, with a goal to hand off a flawless website to our clients. Our goal is to make the web a more inclusive space and we do this by creating accessible documents and websites for our clients to help them meet the accessibility requirements of the AODA, ADA, and Section 508 accessibility laws. This remote 1-year contract position will give you the flexibility to work from home. You will bring your proven experience in balancing multiple conflicting deadlines and problem-solving skills to ensure we meet our project goals.   • You will fix formatting and accessibility issues in source files, including Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Excel, addressing items such as table layout, heading order, and contrast issues.
  • Tag and remediate documents in Adobe Acrobat Pro to be readable by assistive technology devices and to meet PDF-UA compliance (including tagging for headings, tables, hyperlinks, etc., reviewing reading and tagging order, and adding alt text and table summaries)
  • Review tagged accessible documents for conformity and compliance
  • Accurately and consistently quote time/cost for remediation upon document review
  • Create resources and training documentation related to accessible document remediation to share with internal staff and clients
  • Prioritize tasks and projects with shifting priorities
  • Validate developed websites to ensure all components appear and operate based on approved prototypes, specified requirements, and company standards
  • Link-up buttons, headers, footers & navigation items to appropriate pages or modules
  • Configure modules (such as calendars, news feeds, business directories etc.) according to project specifications
  • Import data into modules and websites, using importer tools, and troubleshoot errors. Perform Quality Assurance on imported data to ensure accurate data mapping and professional visual presentation
  • Run reports on broken links, accessibility & spelling and correct as needed
What you will bring to the team?
  • Minimum education of college diploma or equivalent experience in a relevant field (i.e. applications & website development, media & design, information technology, communications, project management)
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat and Acrobat Pro products
  • Experience using Axes PDF and PAC3 an asset
  • Familiarity with content management systems, or with administrating web applications/modules, and all major web browsers (IE, Chrome, Firefox)
  • Experience in developer tools, HTML, CSS, or design tools (i.e. Photoshop CC, Adobe InDesign, Illustrator, Notepad++) is considered an asset
  • Organized, detail-oriented and excels in a constantly changing environment
  • Strong written and verbal English interpersonal skills, including English grammar
  • Ability to work independently and remotely
  • Excellent time-management and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to meet tight deadlines
