Job Overview:

We are an online travel company seeking an experienced Accounts Payable Accountant to join our finance team. In this role, you will be responsible for managing the accounts payable function while actively seeking opportunities to streamline processes, enhance efficiency, and optimize the overall accounts payable operations. The ideal candidate should have experience in accounts payable processes, a solid understanding of financial operations in the travel industry, and a passion for driving continuous improvement initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage accounts payable activities, including processing invoices, verifying payments, and processing payments.
  • Perform cash management duties, including monitoring cash flow, forecasting cash needs, and reconciling bank statements.
  • Reconcile vendor statements and resolve any discrepancies or outstanding issues.
  • Prepare and maintain balance sheet schedules, including reconciliations and analysis.
  • Review and streamline the accounts payable process to improve efficiency, accuracy, and timeliness.
  • Proactively analyse vendor contracts, terms, and pricing to optimize payment terms and discounts.
  • Respond to vendor inquiries and resolve payment-related issues in a timely manner.
  • Assist in month-end closing activities, including accruals, GL expense analysis and account reconciliations.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure accurate coding and proper expense allocation.
  • Assist with audit and other financial reporting requirements as needed
  • Support the finance team with ad-hoc projects and process improvement initiatives.
Qualifications:
  • Degree in Accounting or equivalent
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in accounts payable or general accounting.
  • Solid understanding of accounts payable processes, including invoice processing, payment processing, and vendor management.
  • Proficient in using accounting software and ERP systems (e.g., QuickBooks, SAP, Oracle).
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles and financial regulations.
  • Detail-oriented with excellent numerical and analytical skills.
  • Strong organizational and time management abilities, with the ability to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams
