Description of Role
We are looking for a smart and talented Accounts Assistant with at least 3 years of commercial experience. Reporting to the Corporate Accountant, you will support the finance and legal teams with all accounting, HR and office admin matters for the client. This is a varied role where you will be involved in tasks such as setting up trust and investment accounts, accounts payable processing, billing and debtor management, financial reporting, bank reconciliations and general HR administrative tasks.The role is full time remote work.
Key Responsibilities
Your key responsibilities will include (but are not limited to):

  • Scan and enter all AP invoices into our banking and accounting systems
  • Assist the Partners and legal staff with billing of fees and disbursements
  • Chase overdue payments and send out monthly statements
  • Assist with bank and GL reconciliations
  • Perform month end tasks as required
  • Assist with managing the firm's trust accounts including receipting & reporting in accordance with QLS
and NLS trust regulations
  • Open and manage all client investment trust accounts
  • Reconcile all bank accounts, including all credit card accounts daily
  • Assist with the preparation of monthly and year end reports
  • Assist the Corporate Accountant with our trust account audits
  • Assist the Corporate Accountant with financial and tax audits
  • Assist with preparing tax returns and corporate reporting requirements
  • Assist with the documentation and monitoring of internal controls
  • Assist in the management and accuracy of staff payroll
  • Keep track of all staff entitlements including leave
  • When required perform general office administration tasks as directed
  • Ensure you maintain your knowledge and training of accounting best practices
Skills & Experience
To be successful in this role, you will have:
  • Minimum 3+ years' experience in AP/AR or similar accounts role
  • BSc/BA in Accounting, Finance or related field is a plus
  • Ideally have experience working in the finance team for a law or professional services or real estate services firm
  • Experience with Xero and LEAP (legal practice management software) a plus
  • Understanding and knowledge of Australian accounting standards and tax law
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent attention to detail and a focus on accuracy
  • Excellent communication skills
  • The ability to work autonomously and apply a strong work ethic
