Job Description


Capital College of the Arts, Management and Technology (CCAMT) is currently seeking experienced and passionate educators to join our esteemed School of Business and Management as adjunct lecturers for the Master of Arts in Public Relations program. The ideal candidate should possess a strong background in public relations theory and practice, marketing communications, ethics, critical perspectives, and research, and be able to teach key areas including:

  • Public Relations: Theory & Practice: This module offer a comprehensive understanding of the field of public relations. The first half provides an overview of key principles, concepts, and strategies, including media relations, crisis communication, stakeholder engagement, and strategic planning. Following the foundational concepts, students will be delving deeper into advanced topics such as strategic communication planning, crisis management, and international public relations. The aim is to provide students with a solid theoretical foundation and practical skills in public relations, preparing them for the complexities of the industry and its diverse challenges.
  • Marketing Communications, Content & Engagement: This module focuses on the integration of marketing and public relations in creating effective communication campaigns, including topics such as branding, social media, content creation, and engagement strategies.
  • Public Relations and Society: Ethics, Critical Perspectives, and Research: This module explores the ethical implications of public relations practice, critical perspectives on the role of public relations in society, and research methods used in the field, including quantitative and qualitative approaches.
As an adjunct lecturer, the candidate will be responsible for delivering high-quality instruction in these key areas, ensuring that the program\'s learning objectives are met, and students are equipped with the skills and knowledge needed for success in the field of public relations. The candidate will work collaboratively with other faculty members, contribute to curriculum development, and engage in reflective practice to continuously enhance your teaching effectiveness.

This is a part-time position with the possibility of renewal based on performance and faculty needs. Responsibilities:


  • Facilitate and deliver instruction in identified key concepts, such as public relations theory, marketing communications, ethics, critical perspectives, research methods, and other subject-specific disciplines.
  • Design and implement instructional materials, activities, and assessments that align with identified key concepts and meet the diverse learning needs of students, using innovative and engaging teaching methods.
  • Provide guidance and support to students in conducting independent research, thesis writing, and developing advanced professional practice in subject-related disciplines, including mentorship and feedback on their progress.
  • Encourage self-reflection and critical analysis of public relations practices, marketing communications strategies, ethical implications, and societal impacts in the field of public relations.
  • Develop leadership skills, help students understand leader identity in public relations settings, and explore issues of diversity, equity, and inclusion in public relations contexts.
  • Evaluate and assess student performance, provide constructive feedback, and support student progress towards achieving learning outcomes, maintaining high academic standards and rigor.
  • Collaborate with colleagues, faculty, and stakeholders to enhance the quality of education and training, through participation in academic discussions, workshops, and professional development opportunities.
  • Engage in continuous professional development to stay current with research, best practices, and trends in public relations, marketing communications, and related disciplines.
  • Participate in program evaluation and continuous improvement efforts to enhance the effectiveness of the Master of Arts in Public Relations program, including providing input on curriculum development and enhancement activities.
  • Provide mentorship and guidance to promote reflective practice and support continuous professional growth through mentoring, feedback, and sharing of expertise.
  • Demonstrate commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion in all aspects of teaching, mentoring, and leadership, fostering an inclusive and supportive learning and inclusion in all aspects of teaching, mentoring, and leadership, creating an inclusive and supportive learning environment for all students.
  • Perform administrative tasks related to teaching, mentoring, and program coordination, such as grading, record-keeping, and attendance tracking, in a timely and efficient manner, as required.

Qualifications:


  • Relevant education and experience: The ideal candidate should have a minimum of a Master\'s degree in public relations, communications, or a related field, with practical experience in the field of public relations, marketing communications, or related industries.
  • Teaching experience: The candidate should have prior experience in teaching at the graduate level, with a demonstrated ability to engage students and deliver course materials that align with the program\'s learning objectives.
  • Subject matter expertise: The candidate should have a strong understanding of public relations theory and practice, marketing communications, ethics, critical perspectives, and research methods, with the ability to integrate real-world examples and case studies into the curriculum.
  • Excellent communication skills: The candidate should possess excellent verbal and written communication skills, with an ability to effectively articulate complex concepts and facilitate class discussions.
  • Interdisciplinary approach: The candidate should have the ability to integrate interdisciplinary perspectives, theories, and research into the curriculum, and foster critical thinking and analysis among students.
  • Professional network: The candidate should have a strong professional network in the field of public relations, marketing communications, or related industries, with the ability to bring in guest speakers, industry experts, and practitioners for enriching learning experiences.
  • Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion: The candidate should demonstrate a commitment to promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion in all aspects of teaching, mentoring, and leadership, and creating an inclusive and supportive learning environment for all students.

The ideal candidate should be able to demonstrate the following competencies:


  • Strong understanding of pedagogy and andragogy, and ability to apply them effectively in instructional design and delivery.
  • Proven ability to foster a positive and inclusive learning environment that promotes diversity, equity, and inclusion, and encourages active participation of students in their learning process.
  • Demonstrated skill in facilitating discussion and collaboration among students, promoting engagement and interaction in the classroom.
  • Ability to provide timely and constructive feedback on student work, supporting their learning and growth.
  • Experience in guiding students in developing critical thinking and problem-solving skills, applying pedagogical strategies that encourage higher-order thinking.
  • Proficiency in utilizing various teaching methods, such as case studies, simulations, and real-world applications of technologies, to enhance student learning experiences.
  • Commitment to promoting lifelong learning, and ability to inspire and motivate students to engage in continuous learning and professional development.
