Introduction to the role:

The Agile Coach role supports the leadership team to drive customer-centric value optimization by tailoring lean-agile principles, facilitating effective communication with governance bodies, and leading Agile transformation. The role involves fostering distributed decision-making, coaching and empowering the Leadership Team, and promoting an Agile mindset for innovation and responsiveness.

The role aims to facilitate Agile adoption, improve stakeholder communication, and continuously enhance processes. It entails collaborating with Product Line Owners and Release Train Engineers, utilizing Agile metrics for data-driven decisions, addressing conflicts, and driving Lean Portfolio Management.

The role requires expertise in Scaled Agile (SAFe), coaching, stakeholder management, leadership, communication, problem-solving, change management, collaboration, and continuous learning, all geared toward optimizing value delivery.

What you will do:

  • Be a change agent - communicate the business needs, urgency, and vision for change
  • Gain a close understanding of the business context to navigate the change.
  • Train executives, managers, and leaders - socialise the new concepts, provide orientation, and training. Teach and facilitate learning modules for leaders, managers, and stakeholders
  • Be an influencer to the leadership group, challenge and coach new mindsets & behaviours as needed.
  • Participate and assist in establishing a federated component of a Lean-Agile Centre of Excellence (LACE) - build and execute the transformation backlog
  • Identify Value Streams and Agile Release Trains (ARTs) - work with stakeholders to understand the flow of value, facilitate the identification of Operational Value Streams, Development Value Streams and Agile Release Trains to find those that are the most opportunistic for launch
  • Design and Implement assessment methods to help the stakeholders understand where we are on our path to business agility and define improvement pathways
  • Review and help teams who are already using it and help course-correct them
  • Comfortable stepping in to be a Scrum Master or RTE where needed
  • Helping teams navigate their existing waterfall organisations and remove impediments to their agility
  • Build Communities of Practice that extend knowledge across the organisation
  • Configure Agile tools
  • Assist to define Agile Ways of working and coach teams to adhere to standards
  • Create content for Agile Training and Playbook
What you will need:
  • Have extensive Agile delivery and coaching experience (10+ years)
  • SAFe Implementation experience (mandatory)
  • SPC SAFe Certification (desired)
  • Have extensive theoretical and practical experience utilising various Agile Methodologies including SAFe, Scrum and Kanban
  • Have strong verbal, communication, and facilitation skills
  • Energetic, can-do attitude and experience delivering desirable outcomes in fast pace and complex environments
  • Display a growth mindset, passion for learning, collaborating with others and sharing knowledge
  • Able to build meaningful working relationships across teams and with stakeholders at all levels
  • Foster a culture of respect, inclusion, safety, and high trust
