Job Description

The AMEA Labor Relations Manager trains and supports the countries where there is not a labor resource. He/she could be a liaison between union officials and UPS management and staff. He/she could be a liaison between union officials and UPS management and staff. He/she interfaces with both internal and external legal counsel for guidance. The Labor Relations Manager supports the countries preparing: CBA/CLA negotiations, Dispute resolution in case of unionized employees or social partners Collective local issues, etc. Labor Climate Assessment per country: analysis and recommendations and follow up Managing external labor consultant Job Responsibilities Facilitates Labor Relations Training Conducts meetings with management from various business functions to train them about Labor Relations Do's and Don'ts. Introduction to Labor. Trains the countries BPT about labor relations and how to maintain good employee relations (MGER). Facilitates a training about how to negotiate a CBA, especially to the country negotiation team. Collective Bargaining Agreements CBA/CLA Monitors CBA/CLA's expiring dates and support the countries in advance to set the proper negotiation strategy and get the budget needed approved upfront. Provides guidance to management to execute corrective action plans. Coordinates Labor Relations activities across the Region. Builds Positive Labor Relationships Collaborates with Business agents and management to implement best practice initiatives for developing cooperative communications and work processes. Implements new labor programs to build relationships with management and union leaders for a strong and healthy work environment. Promotes training initiatives to collaborate with union leadership and garner support for UPS policies. Demonstrates diplomacy, tact, discretion, and confidentiality in decision-making to facilitate exchanges of sensitive information. Engages in informal meetings to proactively discuss and prevent current issues from escalating into lawsuits or industrial actions while creating a relationship of cooperation and trust. Participates at external Labor Relations Forums like HR Policy to build network and learn best practices. Manages and Develops Others Identifies individual and team skill gaps and developmental opportunities (e.g., training, special assignments, conferences, projects, etc.) to facilitate individual and team development. Ensures that direct and indirect reports have documented career goals and detailed plans for achieving these goals to develop them personally and professionally. Conducts frequent performance evaluations in a consistent, fair, and objective manner to facilitate open communication and encourage continuous performance improvement. Holds others accountable to established performance levels to achieve individual and group goals. Resolves individual and group performance issues in accordance with UPS's policies and procedures in a timely manner to motivate and foster teamwork. Coaches others and provides on-going feedback and support to improve performance. Identifies opportunities to involve others in new and challenging work assignments and/or rotations that advance the skills and capabilities of individuals and the organization. Job Requirements Possess a Degree in Labor Relations, Human Resource Management or related fields Possess more than 5 years of experience dealing with Labor Relations Demonstrate high proficiency in English (reading, speaking, writing) Demonstrate ability to collaborate, interact and present to stakeholders across all levels Display strong ability to handle stress and being innovative to resolve complex problem Display working knowledge or familiarity with AMEA labor-related matters is a plus A confident and motivated individual who is a self-starter, accountable, agile and a talent builder Candidate must be comfortable to travel (if required) as well as having early morning/night calls (due to time differences) This position is based in Singapore thus candidate must possess the right to work in Singapore
