The Role: APAC Biofuels Analyst

The Team: The APAC Biofuels Analyst will have key role in the Biofuels Analytics team covering the Asian Pacific region. The Biofuels Analytics team is part of the Agribusiness & Commodities division at S&P Global Commodity Insights. This team is responsible for generating insights of the biofuels market globally and for creating short and long-term views on biofuels supply and demand and pricing.

The Impact: Biofuels is the most relevant low carbon fuel having an impact in the road transportation sector and have been used to reduce greenhouse gas emissions for decades. Over the past few years, the biofuels industry has seen tremendous growth amid increasing efforts to decarbonize the energy sector. The focus on sustainability and innovation is supporting the expansion of biofuels from ethanol and biodiesel to drop-in fuels like renewable diesel. Biofuels is now also becoming an important alternative for the aviation and shipping sectors as well. Not to mention the shipping industry and also as a substitute of natural gas and bioplastics.

What\xe2\x80\x99s in it for you:

  • You will be at the forefront of creating market insights and thought leadership content for biofuels in APAC, which is home to one of the world\xc2\xb4s largest biodiesel markets and a key region for waste feedstocks.
  • You will have the opportunity to analyze Biofuel\xe2\x80\x99s role in the Energy Transition as a low carbon option fuel to replace traditional fossil fuels.
  • You will be advising some of the world\xe2\x80\x99s largest agribusiness, energy companies and governments.
  • You will be interacting with a global team and gain exposure to a wide range of other energy transition sectors covered within S&P Global Commodity Insights.
Responsibilities:
  • Take a leading role in coordinating, research and creating analytical content for APAC, including forecasting biofuels supply/demand, trade and policy as well as related bio-feedstocks availability.
  • Act as a subject matter expert for the biofuels market, contributing to a wide range of S&P Global Commodity Insights publications
  • Manage, maintain and enhance supply/demand, pricing and other pertinent models and databases.
  • Create charts, graphs, maps and other visual content that illustrates the trends customers need to follow.
  • Articulate expertise and thought leadership through a variety of media including podcasts, webinars, video, and speaking engagements.
  • Maintain and further develop meaningful business relationships with producers, traders and users in the global biofuels markets in order to source market information and to ensure that Biofuels Analytics are front-of-mind.
What We\xe2\x80\x99re Looking For:
  • Five years of biofuels market analytics experience. Additional experience in other markets, e.g., energy, agricultural commodities, refined products, would be advantageous.
  • Excellent communication skills which include a concise written style, excellent verbal and presentation skills, and the ability to communicate across a wide range of groups and personalities internally and externally.
  • Experience in modelling, forecasting and quantitative analysis would be advantageous.
  • BA Degree in relevant field e.g., Economics, Business, International Affairs, Statistics preferred
  • Must be proactive, able to work effectively and efficiently within a flexible global team environment
