They are looking for an Analyst, Research & Sustainability, who will report directly to the Research desk who also maintains the mandate for global assessment of price forecasting and work related to sustainability. To support the efforts, research needs to be able to understand the production cycles and trade dynamics of the individual markets that we operate and how they are relevant levers of change. Furthermore, Rice maintains the calculations related to rice-specific carbon emissions and deals directly with Carbon Registries and related scientists to offer carbon- reducing solutions to 70,000 farmers, globally.
Description
This role:
Reports to Rice Research Team
Position integrated into on-going global business operations where possible to develop the skills of the position to improve advancement opportunities
Annual and semi-annual reviews of performance based on KPIs, and
Research will offer opportunities to build on existing analytical skills and oversee data and analysis to ensure accuracy/alignment in reporting
Establish/Perform analysis of the Global Rice market including insight into planting and development of rice by grade and geography
Liaison work with domestic/ international agricultural agencies and cooperatives to compare our internal S&D assessments with external assessments of the crop,
Report findings internally to the Executive team of Rice to help build a global view of supply and demand (take over weekly report responsibility and deliver a monthly report to Research to supplement monthly meeting)
Maintain data related to crop, policy, cost of production, and inventory levels
Liaison with third parties who may provide data, consulting, or other support specific to other rice research and sustainability operations in Abidjan, Delhi, Bangkok, Ho Chi Minh City, and Shanghai
Work with sustainability operations to ensure the future of rice cultivation
Minimal travelling required, twice a year
Profile
At least a Bachelor\'s Degree in Agricultural economics (other preferred degrees include Economics, Business, Math, Agronomy, and Meteorology)
Preferred 2-5 years in the food or agricultural industry, preferably at a domestic government agency, packaged foods business, or international trading company
Knowledge of Economics (e.g. supply/demand as they relate to price), Agronomy/Weather (basic understanding of crop development and weather impact) is essential
Excellent people skills (e.g. the ability to establish and maintain diverse relationships throughout the agricultural value chain in Rice)
Equipped with data and programming skills (e.g. functional ability to create, maintain, and calculate complex functions in Excel)
Business knowledge (e.g. understanding margin creation and enhancement through production of agriculture)
Excellent presentation skills (e.g. the ability to aggregate and simplify complex information into an easy-to- understand format)
