Position Overview
We are seeking a talented and driven
Android Developer
with expertise in building responsive and interactive mobile applications to support our next-generation drone inspection tools. You will be responsible for creating intuitive UIs and integrating real-time drone telemetry, flight path visualization, and multimedia communication into our pilot and field-user mobile apps. The apps are based on DJI's Mobile SDK (MSDK 5.15) and use map technologies such as Google Maps, MapLibre, and HERE Maps to visualize live drone and user positions, flight paths, and video feeds. Your work will directly support real-time inspection workflows, drone automation, and field-level solar diagnostics.
Responsibilities
Design, implement, and maintain Android UI features using Java (Kotlin optional).
Integrate DJI MSDK (v5.15) to control and monitor drone activity.
Implement
voice and text messaging
functionality for field operators and drone pilots.
Develop
live map-based UIs
using Google Maps, MapLibre, and HERE Maps SDKs.
Display
real-time user and drone locations
, drone telemetry, and live video feed overlays.
Build mission-oriented interfaces to visualize drone
flight paths
, configure measurement sequences, and initiate
custom drone functions
.
Collaborate with backend, data, and drone systems engineers to deliver seamless app performance.
Optimize rendering and data refresh for live feeds, including video and geospatial overlays.
Test and debug on a variety of Android hardware including enterprise tablets and phones.
Ensure app stability and responsiveness under field-use conditions.
Either office-based or frequent travel to our Singapore and Malaysia (JB) office to discuss issues with our pilots directly.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
3+ years of Android development experience with
Java
(Kotlin a bonus).
Experience integrating with
DJI MSDK
(v5.0+ preferred).
Proficiency with mobile
map SDKs
(Google Maps, MapLibre, HERE Maps).
Experience in building and optimizing real-time mobile UIs, including map overlays and video streaming.
Familiarity with
Android lifecycle management
, UI frameworks, and asynchronous event handling.
Strong debugging and problem-solving skills, especially with third-party SDKs and hardware integrations.
Able to work independently and communicate effectively across disciplines.
Prior experience in
drone, robotics
, or
GIS applications
is a strong plus.
