Purpose of Role:

The Head of Pricing & Market Access, Asia, is a senior leader within the integrated Patient Journey Solutions department, and will play a crucial role in developing and implementing pricing strategies and market access initiatives across all therapeutic areas. This position requires expertise in pricing, reimbursement, and market access dynamics in the pharmaceutical industry. It will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, external stakeholders, and regulatory bodies to optimize patient access to the company\'s products while achieving financial objectives. Reporting directly to the Head of Patient Journey Solutions, this role will contribute to the overall growth and success of the department.



Pricing Strategy and Implementation * Develop/ coordinate and execute pricing strategies for the assigned therapeutic areas, considering market dynamics, product value, reimbursement policies, and competitive landscape.

  • Conduct pricing analyses and market research to identify pricing opportunities and challenges, ensuring optimal market positioning and profitability.
  • Collaborate with commercial, finance, and legal teams to define pricing structures, discounting strategies, and contracting terms (including innovative contracting) to maximize market access and financial goals.
Market Access Planning and Execution * Lead the development and implementation of comprehensive market access plans for the assigned therapeutic areas, ensuring timely and efficient access to the company\'s products.
  • Collaborate with Therapeutic Area Development, Marketing, and cross-functional teams (e.g., Regulatory), to align market access strategies with product development, launch, and lifecycle management activities. Examples of such strategies include early access programs, special access schemes, and value-based pricing schemes.
  • Stay abreast of evolving market access trends, payer policies, and healthcare system changes to anticipate and adapt to market access challenges and opportunities.
Reimbursement and Payer Strategy * Develop and execute reimbursement strategies to secure and optimize reimbursement coverage for the company\'s products within target markets.
  • Engage with payer stakeholders, including health authorities, private payers, and reimbursement agencies, to navigate the reimbursement landscape and ensure product access for patients.
  • Monitor and analyze payer trends, policies, and pricing regulations to proactively address pricing and reimbursement challenges and support market access objectives.
Compliance and Regulatory Compliance * Ensure compliance with pricing regulations, government policies, and industry guidelines related to pricing, reimbursement, and market access activities.
  • Collaborate with legal and compliance teams to develop and implement processes and controls that adhere to applicable laws and regulations.
Stakeholder Engagement * Actively engage with external stakeholders such as payers, reimbursement agencies, pricing authorities, and patient advocacy groups.
  • Build and nurture relationships with key stakeholders to understand their needs, perspectives, and market dynamics.
  • Represent the company in external meetings, conferences, and industry events to advocate for optimal pricing, reimbursement, and market access for the company\'s products.
Collaboration and Leadership * Collaborate closely with internal stakeholders, including Regulatory, and Finance teams, to ensure alignment and integration of pricing and market access strategies and initiatives.
  • Partner with Therapeutic Area Development and Marketing to integrate market access considerations into overall patient journey strategies and programs.
  • Collaborate closely with global pricing and market access teams to align on price policies, pricing governance, and value dossier development, share best practices, and leverage synergies across markets.
  • Provide guidance, support, and mentorship to P&MA leads across Santen Asia and team members, fostering their professional growth and alignment with department goals.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor\'s degree in Health Economics, or a related field; advanced degree is a plus
  • Comprehensive experience (minimum 10 years) in pricing, reimbursement, and market access within the pharmaceutical or healthcare industry, preferably in Asia-Pacific
  • Strong understanding of pricing and access strategies, health economics, and reimbursement processes across global markets
  • Knowledge of payer landscapes, health technology assessments, and health policy frameworks
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and execute successful market access strategies and initiatives
  • Excellent analytical and quantitative skills, with the ability to interpret and communicate complex pricing and market access data
  • Strong project management and strategic thinking capabilities
  • Effective communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills
  • Experience in engaging with external stakeholders such as payers, reimbursement agencies, and patient advocacy groups
  • Knowledge of compliance and regulatory guidelines within the pharmaceutical industry
  • Passion for improving patient outcomes and driving innovation in healthcare
  • Fluent English, spoken & written
  • Ability to travel based on business needs
