Serve as a cornerstone for driving business growth in the Asia Pacific region by providing competent, skilled, and professional legal services.
Offer legal guidance and support to minimize legal and business risks and ensure compliance for all group companies.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES 1. Legal Support Function
Providing accurate and timely legal advice to the company on a variety of topics, such as contracts, competition law, intellectual property law, civil law, and others.
Negotiating, drafting, and reviewing agreements, contracts, and other legal documents to ensure that the company\'s legal rights are protected.
Handling legal disputes, including litigation, arbitration, mediation, and other methods of conflict resolution.
Researching and evaluating different risk factors related to business decisions and operations to help the company make informed decisions.
Receiving reports on legal issues from regional companies and preparing a monthly legal report for the headquarters.
Providing appropriate legal training to regional companies to ensure compliance with legal requirements.
Communicating and negotiating with external parties, such as external counsel and public authorities, to establish relationships of trust.
Specifying internal governance policies and regularly monitoring compliance to ensure that the company operates within legal and ethical boundaries.
Applying effective risk management techniques and offering proactive advice on possible legal issues to help the company avoid legal problems.
Dealing with complex matters involving multiple stakeholders and interests while maintaining professionalism, integrity, and responsibility.
Maintaining up-to-date knowledge of changes in legislation to ensure that the company remains compliant with all legal requirements.
2. Brand Management Function
Conducting anti-counterfeiting activities in the region, including market investigations, raid actions, border measures, and online takedowns.
Managing criminal and civil actions against infringers.
Conducting trademark searches, filings, and management in relation to the SAPAC brand and marketing.
3. Risk Management Function
Supporting cross-functional risk management and crisis response efforts in the region.
Identifying and analysing various risks in the region and evaluating the severity of each risk by considering its potential consequences.
Evaluating employees\' level of risk awareness and developing, coordinating, and delivering risk management training programs throughout the region.
Promoting and fostering an ethical mindset across the region through continuous employee training initiatives.
REQUIREMENTS
Proven experience as a legal counsel or legal manager in a business environment for at least 8 to 12 years.
Excellent knowledge and understanding of corporate law and legal procedures.
Demonstrated ability to develop effective legal strategies, both defensive and proactive.
High degree of professional ethics and integrity.
Sound judgment and analytical skills, with the ability to analyse complex situations and information.
Outstanding communication skills, including the ability to clearly and effectively convey legal information to non-legal stakeholders.
