Role:

Banking Operating Unit has four streams - Lending, Finance, Risk, and Strategic Planning - and Advisory assignments cuts across all of them for banking book entities and portfolios (credit risk and ALM). Lending stream may offer a credit risk modelling assignment for credit assessment; Finance stream projects could be around NMD/behavioural/deposit models; Risk stream assignments are around impairments/portfolio risk/ credit risk models/ climate risk/ ESG risk; Strategic Planning stream would offer projects where the candidate will get opportunities to work on stress testing/ capital planning/ enterprise risk management related projects.

For this role, it is essential the candidate has a strong domain focus in credit risk for Risk and Strategic Planning streams. A successful candidate will be someone with a keen eye for quality of deliverables, and with strong work & team ethics.

Advisory team\'s proximity to clients allows them to understand clients\' challenges & requirements closely. This enables them to come up with new solution ideas, and also enhance our existing solutions.

The current team comprises of experienced subject matter experts with backgrounds in different domains, and with deep understanding of industry best practices. The team\'s domain knowledge, product knowledge, advisory depth, and clarity of Banking OU solutions is required to help client achieve their desired outcome. Apart from Singapore, APAC & ME advisory team members are spread across Hong Kong, Australia, India, and Dubai.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead various credit risk-focussed banking advisory projects around modelling & pure advisory assignments - credit risk parameters, impairment/ IFRS 9, stress testing, portfolio risk, enterprise risk management, climate risk, ESG risk, loan life-cycle models, and other Basel (or other regulations) related analyses
  • Lead project streams, take ownership for deliverables associated with client engagements and provide direction to juniors in developing models, documentation, and presentations
  • Create confidence with clients, demonstrate subject matter expertise, and a commitment to excellence to all current and prospective clients
  • Work closely with sales team, including developing & presenting pre-sales materials and client proposals
  • Demonstrate thought leadership and show initiative and creativity in designing solutions for unique client challenges
  • Understand the applicable regulations and concepts, and incorporate them in the projects
  • Mentor and train junior team members
  • Hire suitable team members keeping tactical and strategic needs in mind
  • Travel onsite to client locations and other MA offices as and when needed
Qualifications:
  • At least 5 years of relevant experience working in banking or financial services companies
  • Engineering or Post-graduate in business/ statistics/ mathematics/ economics/ other quantitative disciplines
  • Prior experience in client-facing role required in consulting firms/analytics & research firms
  • Prior experience in credit risk modelling for wholesale portfolios - PD, LGD, EAD, IFRS 9 & Stress Testing
  • Experience in climate risk and ESG risk modelling & advisory will be preferred
  • Considerable experience in working with APAC based financial institutions
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple projects with tight deadlines
  • Proven interest in expanding domain horizons with strong credit risk analytics and model development skills with ability to coach/guide less experienced analysts.
  • Self-starter willing to roll up sleeves to create required content or make necessary viable customized offerings for customers
  • Understanding of banking industry - regulations, origination, and risk practices
  • Excellent written & verbal communication skills, and presentation skills, and solid experience of leading teams and managing client relationships
  • Be able to operate independently
  • Technical skills: SAS/SQL, MS Office (Excel, Access, PowerPoint), Python, R, Matlab
  • Certifications such as FRM, CFA and CQF will be a plus
  • Some clients in APAC region could be based in time zones ahead of Singapore, which requires flexibility in taking occasional early meetings.
  • Possess necessary expertise and confidence to conduct meetings independently
  • Position normally requires approximately 25% travel for client meetings
