Job Description



The NAC-NTU Asia Creative Writing Programme (the \xe2\x80\x9cACWP\xe2\x80\x9d) is a partnership programme between NAC and NTU that aims to provide a strong foundation to promising writers emerging from the enrolled student population and to support the creative practice of the existing literary talent pool outside of educational institutions. It also aims to promote intercultural understanding via literary translation, literary discourse, and creative exchange among writers writing in Singapore\xe2\x80\x99s four official languages. Top international and local writers will be appointed as writers-in-residence (WIRs) to deliver creative writing modules and workshops for undergraduate and postgraduate programmes in NTU and NIE, as well as executive/continuing education programmes for non-enrolled writers.

The Assistant Director of the NAC-NTU Asia Creative Writing Programme reports to the Director and supports the programme\xe2\x80\x99s advisory committee in meeting the programme\xe2\x80\x99s priorities and targets.

Key responsibilities:

Programme planning and development


  • Develop, implement and monitor strategic plans for the operations and growth of the creative writing programme.

  • Initiate, strategise, plan and organise the writers-in-residence programme, including the selection process.

  • Foster collaboration among NTU, NAC and external partners.


Programme operations

  • Manage the day-to-day operational activities of the Asia Creative Writing Programme Office, including support of writers-in-residence (WIR) and management of venues and accommodation.

  • Manage budgeting process and monitor budget utilisation.

  • Supports the ACWP\xe2\x80\x99s advisory committee on any other activities required for the purpose of the running of the programme.

  • Drafts and compiles annual reports (both financial and operational) for the NAC and NTU.


Event Management, Publicity and outreach

  • Organise conferences, readings, NTU/NAC writer-in-residence activities, and outreach activities.


Requirements:

  • A degree in preferably arts management, business, communications or related fields.

  • At least 7 years of working experience including a minimum of 3 years of management experience in overseeing realization of large-scale public programmes, including budget planning, monitoring and implementation.

  • Knowledge of the literary arts sector in Singapore would be highly advantageous.

  • Demonstrated capability in programme and event management.

  • Content management and creation for marketing (website and social media).

  • Excellent written, communication, presentation and facilitation skills.

  • Excellent organisational skills with demonstrated ability to work across multiple projects and competing deadlines.

  • Strong administrative skills (proficiency in MS Office applications, particularly Excel and Powerpoint)

  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.

  • Possess strong analytical, interpersonal and diplomacy

  • Able to organize events of varying scale.

  • Highly resourceful, meticulous and a self-starter.
