Short Description

Reporting to the Associate Vice President (Strategic Partnership & Engagement), the Assistant Director (Communications and Marketing) is a key member of the Communications and Marketing Team who is responsible for development and implementing a communications and marketing strategy for the University.

  • Develop, lead, and execute integrated marketing communications strategies across all channels to advance the university\'s reputation and promote its programmes and initiatives.
  • Conceptualise media engagement strategies for the university, which includes but not limited to building and maintaining a strong and productive relationship with the media and cultivating new contacts.
  • Work with schools and centres to develop quality and targeted marketing strategies to meet their specific needs within the university\'s overall communications and marketing strategy.
  • Provide strategic communications advice and support in areas such as digital marketing, content development and media engagement, working hand in hand with the team to deliver the best communications impact.
  • Engage in planning and running of media briefings, media interviews and media events to ensure favourable and on-target media of the university.
  • Track and report performance of multi-channel digital marketing campaigns on a regular basis; measure and evaluate progress; set benchmarks and provide analysis and optimisation recommendations for ongoing and future communications and marketing campaigns.
  • Oversee planning, coordination, and execution of events as well as set standards for the effective and efficient management of events to ensure a positive stakeholder experience.
  • Engage in crisis communications planning and management for the university.
  • Plan, manage and track the team\'s budget and ensure strategic utilisation to fulfil the identified scope and projects.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
Job Requirements
  • At least a bachelor\'s degree or higher, preferably in communication or marketing, with at least 12 years of relevant working experience in communications and marketing functions.
  • A successful track record of developing, leading, and rolling out Integrated Marketing Communications programmes.
  • Have an established network of media contacts, and a proven ability to identify communications opportunities beyond conventional media.
  • Experience in strategic PR and marketing counsel and strategies.
  • A team player who is resourceful, detail oriented and able to manage multiple projects.
  • Have good leadership skills with ability to engender trust and teamwork among staff.
  • Excellent stakeholder management with excellent interpersonal, facilitation and communication skills.
  • Keen ability to create interesting news angles, innovative thinking for breakthrough ideas.
  • Experience in interfacing with external vendors and marketing agencies.
  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills.
  • Always observe a code of strict confidentiality.
