What the role is:The Youth Preventive Service (YPS) has two divisions namely, Youth Preventive Health Service (YPHS) and Youth Dental Health Service (YPDS). School Health Service, Student Health Centre and Student Wellness Service are the three departments in Youth Preventive Health Service Division. The mission of YPS is to promote good health and reduce illness among the school children. The services provided by the YPHS division include health screening and immunisation for the children and youth in Singapore. School Health Service (SHS) aims at detecting common health conditions among the school-going population through screening and reducing illness from communicable diseases among the school-going population through immunisation while Student Health Centre (SHC) serves as a referral centre at primary care level providing preventive and screening services for school and preschool children referred by the SHS team. SHC runs general medical, specialist, nutrition, immunisation and refraction clinics. You will be working in a fast-paced and dynamic environment that would require the ability to manage multiple priorities and stakeholders at the same time.What you will be working on:The Assistant Director of the Student Health Service & Student Health Centre is responsible for the conceptualising, planning, development, management, monitoring, review and evaluation of the preventive health service, which include health screening, health plan and immunisation, for the school children. He/She is also responsible for the provision of quality clinic-based health assessment, follow up of students with health conditions and immunisation services by competent and committed team of healthcare professionals in all sections of the Student Health Centre. \xe2\x80\xa2 Conceptualise, strategize and develop effective age-appropriate screening programmes and health plan in the schools, in consultation with Deputy Director of SHS, which includes: \xef\x83\x98 screening for growth and developmental conditions such as scoliosis, visual problems and obesity \xef\x83\x98 administer lifestyle prescriptions to promote healthy living \xe2\x80\xa2 Conceptualise, strategize and develop effective immunisation programmes including Human Papilloma Virus vaccination programme in the school annually and monitor recommended immunisation uptake to ensure high coverage, in consultation with Deputy Director of SHS. \xe2\x80\xa2 Engage and collaborate with stakeholders to ensure success of health screening, health plan and immunisation programmes. \xe2\x80\xa2 Provide clinic-based health assessment, including teleconsult and immunisation service at SHC \xe2\x80\xa2 Conceptualise and plan staff training, knowledge acquisition and skills improvement. \xe2\x80\xa2 Review health screening, immunisation programmes and clinical standards of medical team for improvements and relevanceWhat we are looking for:Broad Competencies require \xe2\x80\xa2 Thinking Clearly & Making Sound Judgements - Strong analytical and critical thinking abilities to support the crafting of sound policy recommendations; ability to grasp timelines, operating context and ground realities. \xe2\x80\xa2 Learning & Putting Skills into Action - Possesses the drive and curiosity to learn and apply new skills, knowledge and new ways of working. \xe2\x80\xa2 Improving & Innovating - Ability to seek continual improvements, and to innovate and experiment while managing the risks involved. \xe2\x80\xa2 Working Effectively with Stakeholders - Ability to mobilise and rally partners and stakeholders towards a collective purpose.
