Job Description


NTU Student Affairs Office (SAO) seeks to achieve its mission of collaborating and co-creating a meaningful and enriching student life experience with its partners via:

  • Promoting students’ personal growth through co-curricular learning arising from student-led activities, leadership development initiatives, residential hall programmes, inclusion and integration efforts, community engagement initiatives and sports.
  • Facilitating meaningful engagement among key stakeholders within and outside of the NTU community
This job calls for a dynamic and passionate individual to serve as Unit Head of Student Community Engagement to direct and oversee the development and delivery of progammes and strategic initiatives under NTU’s Community Engagement Framework, to promote an enriching and vibrant student life among the university’s 33,000 student body. In addition, he/she provides strategic support in the planning, review and coordination of the University’s annual Transition & Orientation Programme to meet NTU Education 2025 strategic goals.

Responsibilities
  • Assume overall responsibility for staff, budget and operations management, as well as the development and delivery of local and overseas Community Engagement programmes mapped against UN SDG, in alignment with NTU Education 2025 strategic goals
  • Conceptualize new and enhance existing strategic initiatives under the NTU Student Community Engagement Framework to nurture socially responsible NTU graduates and foster a community of caring and connected individuals who contribute positively to society.
  • Oversee SAO’s Overseas Community Engagement Projects (OCEP) and manage the compliance of overseas travel safety and risk framework, working in close partnership with internal and external stakeholders to ensure programme matters such as communication, budgeting, training, safety review, pre and post trip outcomes are achieved, in accordance with NTU and MOE’s overseas experiential learning goals and expectations.
  • Administer the Kwek Leng Joo Student Community Service Fund to implement a wide range of community engagement programmes to meet donor’s and NTU’s objectives of creating social impact through students’ community endeavours.
  • Provide strategic planning and support to the President’s Office (Student Life) in the coordination of the University’s annual Transition & Orientation Programme which covers 23 residential halls, 16 schools and 4 big student organisations.

Requirements
  • A good degree, preferably with a relevant postgraduate qualification and at least 15 years of work experience, 5 of which in a senior or supervisory role
  • Proven leadership with good coaching skills and demonstrated ability to lead a team to achieve extraordinary results
  • Prior experience in tertiary education or close interaction with youth will be advantageous
  • Ability to think strategically balanced with practical operations knowledge in programme design and implementation
  • Good team player with excellent interpersonal skills across organizational hierarchy
