Job Description

Job Purpose

To perform the monitoring and control operations for Thomson-East Coast Line (TEL) Power Supply System & Environment Control System (ECS) via Integrated Supervisory Control System (ISCS).

Responsibilities

• To comply with the safety requirements of :

o Work Safety Manual / Work Instructions (WIs) / Task Lists.
o Permit To Work (PTW) procedures in relation to safe switching / isolation / re-energization for site work carried out by front line maintenance staff (inclusive of work by ISCS staff, especially Remote Terminal Unit work).
o Switching protocol / procedures in relation to traction switching instructions from Traffic during revenue hours, at the end of revenue service, during engineering hours and before start of revenue hours. Under live track booking or exceptional situation, confirm there are adequate buffer zones and bridging by train collector shoes would not energize dead tracks.
o Switching communication with front line maintenance staff where the Station Name associated with the breaker must be mentioned and switching request is repeated and confirmed before switching is carried out and other associated operation safety procedures

• To monitor closely alarms and tripping/fault occurrence & coordinate with the front line maintenance staff concerned upon such occurrence. Record event in log book and send notification to front line maintenance staff for follow up Corrective Maintenance (CM) work or investigation.
• To coordinate with Traffic / front line maintenance staff periodically and perform remote/ local operational function tests associated with Power and ECS installations.
• To carry out under emergency situations remote switching of ventilation system according to the Work Instructions and operation procedures.
• To carry out under emergency situations, fault or outage conditions the remote switching of 22KV, 750V DC or 415V installations to restore the power supply immediately or to isolate remotely in conjunction with front line maintenance staff locally at site for safe recovery / repair work.
• To develop, review and revise the WIs and associated operation procedures periodically or as and when required.
• To carry out any other tasks or functions which are incidental, ancillary or additional to the assigned work.

Qualifications & Work Experience

• Candidate must possess at least a Diploma in Engineering (Electrical/Electronic) or equivalent.
• At least 2 year(s) of working experience in the related field is required for this position.
• Rotating Shift is required
