NIE invites applications for the position of "Assistant Librarian / Librarian - Access Services". The position plans, develops and maintains innovative Access Services initiatives (including facilities & vendor management and outreach) to meet the teaching, learning and research needs of the NIE community.

Key Responsibilities

Administer, manage and provide user support for library access services and facilities & vendor management including liaison with relevant internal & external stakeholders

Harness latest technologies, including emerging areas such as virtual/augmented reality/metaverse, robotics, data analytics/visualisation and digital/social media marketing to enhance the Library's operational efficiency and end users' experience

Analyse data/statistics of library resources/facilities/services usage gathered from library systems, web analytics and other sources to support evidence-based decision making and service improvement

Identify, plan and implement outreach activities including tours and presentations

Work collaboratively with project and functional teams to implement and promote new initiatives

Supervise and manage team members and vendors

General and Liaison Duties

Foster communication between the Library and designated Academic Groups

Participate in collection development, including identifying, evaluating and recommending library resources

Liaise with NIE community to recruit content for the NIE data and digital repository

Communicate, plan and deliver library events and promotional activities

Provide information desk services on scheduled evenings and weekends and online via LibChat

Contribute to library projects, peer/user training and staff development

Requirements

A University degree and a recognised postgraduate qualification in Library and/or Information Science, preferably with a strong service orientation, a good understanding of library industry trends and project implementation experience in an academic library environment.

Good interpersonal, communication (oral and written) and organisational skills, with the ability to work collaboratively and innovatively with library colleagues, NIE and external communities.

Strong customer service orientation.

Tech savvy with strong analytical, troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.

Work experience in access services, facilities & vendor management and outreach functions in a library.

Keen learner who is adaptable and able to work independently and/or in a team.

Ability to analyse and derive insights from usage data and data analytics & statistical reports.

Experience in government ITQ (Invitation to Quote)/tendering/writing proposals will be an added advantage.

Candidate with proven track record may be appointed as team lead for one or more of the key responsibilities. Candidate without the professional qualification / relevant experience may be appointed as Assistant Librarian with opportunities to pursue a postgraduate course in Library and Information Science in due course.
