Sephora SEA's omni channel business spans over 8 countries (Australia, India, Indonesia, Malaysia, New Zealand, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand) with 100+ stores and boasts some global flagships such as ION and Raffles City in Singapore, F88 in Kuala Lumpur and Pitt Street in Sydney. Sephora SEA is experiencing rapid growth in the region with new store openings and business channels (i.e., Click and collect and marketplace).
The opportunity:
Assistant Manager, Category Analytics & Insights
The Assistant Manager for Category Analytics & Insights will play a key role in strengthening and developing Sephora SEA's analytical sophistication. The role's key purpose is to be actively involved in driving revenue growth by providing actionable and data-driven insights for the Category Management team. You will take the lead on key projects, involving the use of analytical tools, market research platforms, and commercial knowledge to identify opportunities across categories and brands across Southeast Asia.
To succeed in this role, you must possess the unique combination of having a strong analytical mindset and a solid understanding of the beauty industry. You will be commercially focused; able to proactively identify business challenges and conceptualize how to use analytical techniques to solve them.

Reporting
Take ownership of standard reports & presentations, ensuring accuracy & timely delivery, while continually looking for ways to make improvements
Collaborate with the Business Intelligence (BI) team on the maintenance of the brands & category pages on Domo and ensure proper delivery of automated weekly and monthly reports
Provide sales and trend reporting in support of weekly, monthly, yearly sales recaps and analysis
Timely delivery of business reviews for regional level brand/group meetings
Engage in Joint Business Plan (JBP) initiatives, and be responsible for preparation and consolidation
Budgeting
Represent the Regional Category Management team during the annual budgeting process, providing data-driven recommendations for balancing sales and margin for regional consolidation
Ensure timely tracking of sales and margin to target, notifying gaps whenever possible and work with teams to have short term action plans to close targets
Margin & Pricing
Lead pricing analysis to ensure profitability across brands and categories
Provide cost benefit analysis, scenario modelling on commercial events across the region
Conduct pricing reviews twice yearly to ensure profitability against relevant costs fluctuations
Own the billback process between finance and category management teams, acting as gatekeeper for markdowns across the region
Market Intelligence
Utilize market research tools in order to review and analyze the performance Sephora / categories within the premium beauty industry, and provide relevant feedback for the Category Management department
Lead and manage consumer study projects with external agencies, looking into whitespace opportunities and giving data driven recommendations to the Category team
Provide market insights based on market share information, competitive analysis and robust understanding of regional merchant insights
Market Size and Share
Quarterly reporting on Market Share data from Beaute Research for Singapore, Malaysia and Thailand, and track again Market Share Goals
Cross check with Euromonitor Data for rest of countries and market feedback, and also review and analyze predictive growth to support Strat plan goals
Category Insights & Trends
Lead key Category Management analytics projections: identifying the suitable approach to tackle a business problem, hands-on execution of the analysis using internal and external data, and effectively communicating insights to the relevant stakeholders
Answer ad-hoc business questions to drive product, brand and category sales strategies
Maintenance of the Category pages on Domo and creation of new pages whenever required
Look out for and present regular updates on any emerging trends of the beauty market across the region
Partner collectively as a Merch Analytics team across total Asia to support any and all merchant strategy discussions included but not limited to key category strategies, strat plan, budgeting, incubation fund management, etc
Functional reporting line into Senior Manager, Analytics in Asia Merchandising team
We would love to hear from you if you are/have
Strong academic credentials, preferably with a degree or equivalent qualification in Business Analytics, Statistics, Marketing, Finance
At least 5 years of experience in a data-influenced analytics role in the beauty industry (or similar retail space)
SQL and relational database proficiency
Advanced MS Excel and MS PowerPoint skills
Hands-on experience with various technologies (SAP, Domo, Tableau, Retail Pro, etc.) is highly desirable
Strong commercial understanding, preferably with retail and Ecommerce experience
Ability to communicate complex ideas with clarity for stakeholders at all levels
