Job Description




Reporting to Head, Centre for the Arts, Office of Student Affairs, the candidate will manage student arts groups on campus and help drive student engagement in the arts that contributes towards a vibrant student life integral to educational goals.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Manage six NUS Arts Groups and enable them to meet NUS educational goals. This includes providing advice and direction for the student group\'s annual work plans, liasing with tutors to advance standards and educational goals, overseeing the day-to-day administration of activities, guiding and coaching in show planning and production planning, ensuring prudent financial management and developing student leaders.
  • Manage and contribute to key arts and student life events on campus such as Supernova, ExxonMobil Campus Concerts, the Tan Ean Kiam Arts Awards and NUS Achievement Awards and the NUS Arts Festival.
  • Network and liase with external partners, arts professionals, and key stakeholders to develop collaborative projects and initiatives with NUS Arts Groups.
  • In charge of effective communication with all NUS student arts groups and ensuring that all communications are clear, succinct and timely.
  • In charge of safety matters of the department and student arts groups and ensuring that safety standards are met by staff and students.
  • In charge of the Paul Abisheganaden Grant for Artistic Excellence and liasing with internal and external stakeholders for its administration.
  • Administration, procurement and finance support
Qualifications
  • Bachelor\'s Degree in Humanities, Arts or Social Sciences, Arts Management and/or Education
  • 3-5 years relevant experience in student development in areas of artistic development, event management or the programming of festivals. A familiarity with the local dance or music education scene is a big advantage.
  • Strong interest developing youth-driven interdisciplinary work and arts integration.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Excellent administrative skills to be able to meet deadlines and deliver work of a high quality
  • Positive attitude, self-motivated and a good team players to collaborate with colleagues across the University.
  • Adaptability on the job - open to new ideas and flexible to work through challenging issues.
