We would like to invite independent and self-motivated individual who has keen interest in contributing to the growth of a trusted environment and consumer confidence for Singapore\'s data economy and enhance Singapore\'s international standing as a trusted data hub to join the Data Innovation & Protection Group.

The individual is required to assist with formulating technology-related policy positions to support the Personal Data Protection Act (PDPA) as well as supporting technical implementations for data innovation projects and reviewing ICT systems for enforcement of the PDPA. The former includes assessing emerging technologies and potential data protection concerns, developing technology guidance for organisations to facilitate compliance with the PDPA and ensure a robust, forward-looking data protection regime that safeguards individuals\' interests while enabling legitimate and innovative uses of data and emerging technologies.

Responsibilities:

Lead/Support research and studies on key local/global emerging data-related technology trends and developments, global regulatory developments for these technologies and good practices/concerns relating to data protection and innovation which may have policy implications on Singapore\'s data strategies and protection framework.

Lea/Support the formulation, review and update of technology-related policy positions, frameworks, advisory guides, strategies and other related resources relating to data innovation and the protection of personal data.

Lead/Support consultations with key stakeholders (public, industry, government agencies) on technology-related policy positions and address stakeholders\' feedback in the review and formulation of these policies.

Support collaborations in intra-agency and inter-agency development of technical projects, ICT security guidelines, publications, and training material pertaining to data protection and innovation.

Conduct ICT security review and assessment, and provide technical consultancy to support PDPC\'s data breach investigations and prosecution of non-compliance to the PDPA

Collaborate with foreign data protection authorities (DPAs) or relevant government/public agencies on matters relating to technology-related data protection policies.

Requirements:

(A) Academic

At least a bachelor\'s degree in relevant technical, law and/or public policy disciplines such as Engineering, Computer Science, Economics, Political Science, Public Administration or Law.

Professional certification in data forensics, data analytics, data protection, cybersecurity will be an advantage

(B) Experience

At least 3 to 7 years of experience in public policy making, policies and/or IT governance roles. Regulatory or legislative development experience in the government relating to emerging technologies will be an added advantage.

Good understanding of local and international standards on data protection technologies, information security and digital forensics

Good understanding of emerging and data-related technologies e.g. ad-tech, Artificial Intelligence, data analytics, IoT and blockchain etc.

Experience in development or deployment of emerging and data-related technology applications, e.g. ad-tech, Artificial Intelligence, data analytics, IoT and blockchain would be an advantage.

Some experience and understanding of international laws and diplomacy would be advantageous.

(C) Other Key Areas of Consideration

Self-motivated individual with high degree of personal initiative, flexibility and positive attitude to adapt to dynamic scope of activities.

Keen interest to self-learn and keep up to date with development of emerging technologies.

Ability to effectively interact with key stakeholders and other internal or external teams.

Strong analytical skills with ability to pick up general knowledge of new technologies.

Excellent writing and communication skills, ability to write clearly and concisely.

Ability to work independently and as a team player.

Position offered will be commensurate with experience.
