What the role is:

The Singapore Tourism Board\'s (STB) Communications Division resides within the Marketing Group. The team supports STB in the area of public relations, media engagement and marketing campaigns to drive corporate and destination messaging and safeguards STB\'s corporate identity and reputation. The officer is responsible in providing support on media-related matters to Line Units and strategic counsel to Regional Offices in support of tourism development in Singapore and plays a critical role to promote STB\'s destination campaigns and initiatives to the public, stakeholders, and the media. The officer plays a critical role in ensuring STB\'s communication and public relations activities are effective, efficient, and aligned with the board\'s objectives and values.

What you will be working on:

In this role, you will be involved in the following:

1. Communications Planning & Message Development: advise on PR approaches to projects; develop and execute integrated PR plans; craft media materials including press releases, speeches, message houses, media responses and interview talking points.

2. Media Engagement (traditional, online and social): cultivate media, manage media events, handle media queries, facilitate media interviews and monitor media coverage.

3. Crisis Communications & Issues Management: anticipate and advise on potential issues; develop communications plans to manage issues and crises.

4. Stakeholder Engagement & Management: manage and advise internal and relevant external stakeholders on media communications and public relations strategies and execution.

5. Marketing Communications: work with marketing teams on integrating media communications initiatives within marketing strategies and campaigns/activities for key projects.

6. Strategic Counsel: provide counsel on media-related matters to regional offices.

What we are looking for:

  • Excellent command of written and spoken English
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Strong media relations
  • Presentation and public speaking skills
  • Highly motivated, organised, adaptable and able to perform under pressure and within tight timelines.
  • Some experience in integrated public relations, corporate communications, journalism or editorial roles
  • At least 3 years working experience in public relations, corporate communications or journalism
