What the role is

The Early Childhood Development Agency (ECDA) serves as the regulatory and developmental authority for the early childhood (EC) sector in Singapore, overseeing key aspects of children's development below the age of 7, across both kindergartens and childcare centres. ECDA is an autonomous agency jointly overseen by the Ministry of Education (MOE) and the Ministry of Social and Family Development (MSF), and is hosted under the Ministry of Social and Family Development. The Regulation and Licensing Branch is involved in the regulation of Early Childhood Development Centres in Singapore to ensure compliance with the Early Childhood Development Centres Act and Regulations. The Early Childhood Development Centres Act and Regulations seek to raise the quality of early childhood care and education in Singapore.

What you will be working on:

This is an enforcement role, where you will investigate incidents in preschools and take regulatory actions for lapses of the Early Childhood Development Centres Act and Regulations. You will be involved in the following key areas: Investigate allegations of possible breaches of the Early Childhood Development Centres Act and Regulations; Take regulatory actions for non-compliance of the Early Childhood Development Centres Act and Regulations; Be involved in initiatives to implement quality measures to raise the standard of early childhood care and education in preschools.

What we are looking for:

  • Preferably work experience in investigation, enforcement, or quality assurance. Strong analytical and problem solving skills to respond to complex situations Demonstrate resilience, adaptability and perseverance under demanding situations as the nature of the work involves conducting interviews, centre visits, other investigative work with specified timelines, and managing stakeholders. Resourceful, meticulous with keen power of observation Strong written and verbal communication skills Good team-player with well-rounded interpersonal skills to work across teams and with diverse stakeholders (public and private sector).
