Job Description


What the role is:

The Early Childhood Development Agency (ECDA) serves as the regulatory and developmental authority for the early childhood (EC) sector in Singapore, overseeing key aspects of children\'s development below the age of 7, across both kindergartens and childcare centres. ECDA is an autonomous agency jointly overseen by the Ministry of Education (MOE) and the Ministry of Social and Family Development (MSF), and is hosted under the Ministry of Social and Family Development. The Regulation and Licensing Branch is involved in the regulation of Early Childhood Development Centres in Singapore to ensure compliance with the Early Childhood Development Centres Act and Regulations. The Early Childhood Development Centres Act and Regulations seek to raise the quality of early childhood care and education in Singapore.

What you will be working on:

This is an operations role, where you will be involved in licensing and regulatory compliance. You will be involved in the following key areas: \xe2\x80\xa2 Regulate Early Childhood Development Centres (\xe2\x80\x9cCentres\xe2\x80\x9d) in Singapore to ensure compliance with the Early Childhood Development Centres Act and Regulations; \xe2\x80\xa2 Monitor Centres and ensure compliance; \xe2\x80\xa2 Conduct assessment and supervisory visits; \xe2\x80\xa2 Investigate incidents and feedback; \xe2\x80\xa2 Provide guidance to Centres, parents and members of the public; and \xe2\x80\xa2 Be involved in initiatives to implement quality measures to raise the standard of early childhood care and education in Centres, so as to give every child a good start.

What we are looking for:

  • Preferably possess a background in Early Childhood/Child Psychology/Education or a background in regulation or quality assurance \xe2\x80\xa2 Strong written and verbal communication skills \xe2\x80\xa2 Able to work in a fast-paced environment and under varied settings as the nature of the work involves centre visits, handling of customer feedback, investigation, writing of reports and administrative duties \xe2\x80\xa2 Have problem solving skills to respond to complex situations and/or resolve conflicts between different parties \xe2\x80\xa2 Good team-player with well-rounded interpersonal skills to work across teams and with diverse stakeholders (public and private sector). \xe2\x80\xa2 Able to communicate effectively with different groups of people \xe2\x80\xa2 Candidates with previous working experience in service-oriented or customer facing roles will have an added advantage
