The Assistant Nurse Manager (ANM) provides both clinical and administrative support to the Nurse Manager. The role is key in upholding the values of the Home and leading staff in delivering safe, competent, compassionate, and holistic nursing care to residents.
Key Responsibilities
Clinical & Operational Leadership
Oversee daily nursing operations and ensure adequate staffing levels across shifts.
Apply a holistic and multifaceted approach to planning and delivering care that meets residents' needs.
Ensure nursing services comply with all regulations, licensing, and professional standards.
Conduct regular nursing rounds to identify clinical and service gaps, and implement corrective actions.
Liaise with doctors, dietitians, pharmacists, and other healthcare professionals to facilitate residents' care.
Deputise for the Nurse Manager in their absence and serve as a resource person for Staff Nurses and below.
Staff Supervision & Development
Plan and schedule work assignments, and assist the Nurse Manager in determining staffing requirements.
Supervise, guide, and mentor nurses to ensure high standards of practice and service.
Monitor and evaluate staff performance, providing constructive feedback to the Nurse Manager.
Conduct performance appraisals and counsel staff on professional conduct and practices.
Coordinate induction and orientation programmes for new, promoted, or re-designated staff. Provide direct induction support where required.
Oversee ongoing staff education and training to ensure safe and quality care delivery.
Quality & Continuous Improvement
Monitor and evaluate nursing workflows, systems, and processes to drive safe and efficient care.
Identify and present resident care issues during clinical conferences and other professional platforms.
Recommend improvements to enhance the quality of care and residents' satisfaction.
Collaboration & Communication
Build effective communication and collaboration channels with residents, families, intra- and inter-departmental teams.
Ensure timely escalation of clinical and service issues to the Nurse Manager or Director of Nursing.
Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Nursing.
Job Requirements
Degree in a health-related subject or equivalent, OR Post-basic Certificate / Advanced Diploma in a Nursing specialty, OR Diploma in Nursing (recognized by Singapore Nursing Board).
At least 2 years of experience in a similar leadership position in a medium or large-sized nursing home, OR at least 6 years of nursing experience as a Senior Staff Nurse in an acute or community hospital.
State Registered Nurse with a valid Practicing Certificate from the Singapore Nursing Board.
Strong leadership and interpersonal skills, with a passion for elderly care.
