Job Description



The Signature Research Programme in Emerging Infectious Diseases (EID) at Duke-NUS Medical School in Singapore invites applications from outstanding candidates for tenure-track Assistant / Associate Professor positions within the broad area of virology/emerging infectious diseases.

All areas of virology/infectious diseases, especially research directed at unravelling the molecular mechanisms of microbial pathogenesis, virus/pathogen-host interactions and genomics, immune responses to infection, molecular virology, vaccinology, and the role of the microbiome in host susceptibility/response to viruses and other pathogens.

All applicants must have a PhD and/or MD, 3 to 5 years of postdoctoral research experience, and a strong record of research accomplishments and publications. Successful candidates will be provided with laboratory space, and access to the state-of-the-art facilities to carry out translational research through our strong links with clinicians through the SingHealth Duke-NUS Academic Medical Centre. We offer an attractive package that includes 100% covered competitive salary and a generous five-year start-up fund. Successful applicants will be expected to establish and maintain a rigorous, externally funded research programme and to participate in departmental teaching and mentoring of graduate and medical students.

The Programme in Emerging Infectious Diseases strives to pioneer the development and discovery of new and more effective methods for the detection, treatment, prevention and control of emerging and re-emerging pathogens. EID has a strong core of researchers working on pathogen discovery, virus evolution, structural biology, virus-host interactions, pathogenesis mechanisms, experimental therapeutics, clinical trials and epidemiology.
